Re: FJ: was it impulse buying?

Fell in love with the concept and ended up waiting almost six months to get mine. Had it since August and have loved every minute behind the wheel. And to think I almost went for an xterra!

Re: FJ: was it impulse buying?

Absolutely impulse. Saw one on the street in late May'06. Thought "what the hell is that?" I'd always wanted a "jeep" that was made by Toyota and I had hated what had happened to the 4Runner and LC in terms of turning into Lexus-style, plastic trim, mall and bling machines. I also knew way too little a) to realize I could go buy an old FJ40, b) know what I was doing with the FJC. Anyway, three days after seeing it and reading a couple of press-release style articles, I went out and bought it. My wife had very recently died and it was a total attempt at compensation. Since then, the FJC has taken over a huge fraction of my life Wheeled it stock for a while (till maybe Oct/Nov). Then the mod bug kicked in I still barely know what I'm doing, but I've learned SO MUCH. This has been so fun in so many different ways...

Re: FJ: was it impulse buying?

I knew a couple of years before I purchased my FJ that it would be my next vehicle purchase. I need a 4x4 to get down my unplowed road to the highway, and I wanted a quality machine, so I don't think impulse buying can be pinned on my shirt.

Re: FJ: was it impulse buying?

Kinda Sorta. I fell in love with the Concept, then sorta forgot about it until they came out. Had two vehicles then, so I didn't even consider buying one, plus I live in Podunkville, USA, where there were none to be had. Or seen. Outta site, outta mind. Then about a month ago, I was just sick of my 2000 Grand Prix, so I started looking on the net at the new Camrys, and it hit me. FJ CRUISER! Drove 3 hours and bought one the next day. LOVE IT.

Re: FJ: was it impulse buying?

It was absolutely an impulse buy! I could have saved myself 10 grand and bought a really nice '04 TRD double cab tacoma. I needed seating for four and I still wanted to wheel. In retrospect, the Tacoma would have been a more useful choice, but I wouldn't turn around everytime I park it just to look again.

It would be great if I had a clue, but let's face it, that's just not gonna happen.
