Okay, I got my Demello front bumper in last Monday and have been sitting around looking at it in the living room ever since. Initially I wanted to just paint it, then I thought I'll line-x the whole thing. Then I thought paint the inside and line-x the outside. Then I thought powdercoat it.
I want something that holds up well, but doesn't look like crap all the time and also can be touched up. I think the line-x would look dirty since it's "sticky", the powdercoat can't be touched up easily, and the paint wouldn't hold up well especially to a pressure washer. So I leave it to the vote. I still keep my executive veto powers in case I change my mind last minute, but I'd like to hear what everyone thinks.
I have the Demello front bumper with the powdercoating from Demello. However, I voted for the smooth powedercoat after seeing what sbechtold did with his. If you haven't seen it go to the 4X4 section and check out his pics.

I go textured powdercoat as I rather like the finish of BamaBleach's DO bumper. While I do agree that sbechtold's DO bumper in smooth PC is astonishlingly terrific looking, I just am not into seeing every last smudge, fingerprint, scratch, swirls, etc. Textured just gives it a more industrial grade look to it. These are just my opinions and I am sure that you'll just do what feels right.

You're right. The smooth looks great when it's brand new but that might not be the case once it's been used some.
The important thing is that he went with the DO bumper. Smart choice!
I have the ARB w/ black powder.....look at it wrong and it scratches....try to cover it and it looks worse....my skids are powder coated and rusty every were I've scratched them...so ...rattle can that pig....satin black...and save the can for touch up...of course I'm in the desert were everything is rock or cactus
Here is my two coat semi-gloss smooth powdercoat. More pics here. I vote you do textured pc or paint, skip the line-X as it will look really faded in about a year. Do something different then me...
Take it from someone who powdercoated their sliders with smooth powdercoat. It's not something you mant to do to a surface that's going to take any type of abuse. Mine are scratched and scuffed and that's just in the areas where I've stepped on them to get in and out of the truck. I have no experience with rough texture powdercoat, that may be better. I'd vote for the spray can.

Re: What to do with my Demello bumper
I bought my Demello with the textured powder coat and I'm happy with it, but if I were buying one bare then Line-x would be the way to go IMO.

I don't have the Demello bumper but both of mine(front and rear) are at the powder house right now. i went with the black texture powder coat on my AP front bumper. Matches the plastic almost to a T. I'm having the rear powder coated Anodized Aluminum which comes the closest to matching the silver in My TI metallic. To each his own. Smooth black finish = fingerprints, peckertracks, scuffs, and so on. Good luck with your choice and your rig.
