Geez, I had a 94 Jeep Cherrokee that I cruised for 265,OOO miles. It has more angle on it's windshiels than my FJ. I have replaced 3 windshields during it's lifetime.
This ain't Star Trek and there isn't a forcefield protecting it. Mine was popped by a rock and left a gnarly "Bulls Eye". I fixed it quickly and if it were worse. I would have gotten it replaced.
In the game of "Rock-Sissors-Windshield" The rock will win ever time.

What I did was change my deductible on my Comprehensive only (Not on Collision) to Zero. I think I pay $105 a year for that through State Farm. Peace of mind for me.
I can't believe you tools are still having this conversation.
This thread is over 10 months old and nobody seems to get tired of spewing the exact same **** that was spewed on page 2,6,11,18,20, etc.
For the love of God people get over it! The person that started this thread and tried to organize a lawsuit has since sold his FJ and left the board I believe.
I honestly didn't and still don't post comments in this for the "lawsuit" factor. I don't give a rats&*$ about a lawsuit, and I don't think anyone else does either. I'm looking for a solution to a problem. Filing an insurance claim is not a solution, Tiger Boy writing in past posts that "glass just breaks" is not a solution. Installing a stronger/thicker piece of glass might be a solution if we in fact knew it was stronger. Knowing for sure that the stock windshield that Toyota uses is inferior would help but I don't think that's going to happen, and I don't think it's inferior, maybe just not "specialized" for this vehicle . So, has anyone had their windshield replaced with like PPG glass or something and noticed any less problems?
I had the driver window "blow out" on me while I was driving my truck.
Scared the pi$$ out of me - thought for sure someone was shooting at me (I stopped and looked for bullet holes in ceiling, etc.. lol).
I was driving on a paved country road with bush on either side, obviously no one around.
After the fact... my answer to what happened was a combination of cold outside, hot sun beading into truck, hot air from vents, pressure from power window, and older window with scratches.
Definitely had the ol' pucker factor going I tell ya!
You must be a lawyer. Did I mention how I was in remedial school for most of my adolescence and how the whole world is out to get me... I'm a victim!!!
Uh, no, Tool, I'm not a lawyer, nor are any of my immediate family, friends or co-workers.
