2001 Civic is sold, now time is here to find my FJ

Finalized the deal on my 2001 Civic - got $7,800 for it. I am happy! Sold it in one day! Now I am looking for a Voodoo Blue 6M FJ with NO ROOF RACK. The search is on. The dealers around my town (Toledo, OH) have nothing but AUTOMATICS!!! I have searched CARMAX and other dealer's inventory for the FJ I want, but they don't have what I am looking for. I can order one tomorrow from a local dealer with everthing I want (including TRD exhaust) for $26,578. However, the salesman informed me that it would take 3 to 4 months for delivery! I do NOT want to wait that long, but it looks like this is what I might have to do. Any suggestions? I would like to find a dealership that has what I want. I am willing to travel cross country to get it (one way plane fare and drive it back home!!!). Any suggestions are welcome and appreciated.

Congrats on selling the civic! I knew you'd be able to hold out. Start making some phone calls my friend. Every dealership in the area and out of the area. You've waited this long, what's a few more days to find the right one?

No need to use the phone. There's this thing Al Gore invented called the Internet and it truly is your friend as you search near and far for your FJ.

Good luck,

Eddie

Several Southern California Toyota dealerships were advertising FJs for $5000 off MSRP last weekend...

South Coast Toyota in Costa Mesa has 25 FJs in stock... South Coast Toyota dealership in Southern California - new and used Toyota cars, trucks, and SUVs - Toyota parts and service - Camrys, Corollas, Tundras, 4Runners and more

"Any suggestions?"

Price shopping for automobiles us super easy now thanks to the internet. Dealers are dying for your business, so you should find a killer deal on the FJ you are looking for. Remember not to settle for something close, especially the color. You will regret your choice!!! Remember that tan/beige and red are rumored color options on the soon to arrive 2008's, so you may want to place an order for a 2008 model.

Congrats,

Whatever you do, wait until the last 2-3 days of the month to close the deal. You have the dealership over a barrel at that time, when they haven't made quota and their bonuses are at risk. I got them to knock $3k off the MSRP using that tactic last month end.

And you can also use the old "fear of loss" sales technique against them. If they're jerking you around, just walk out and leave your business card. 99 times out of a hundred they'll call you with a better offer.

And start working out at the gym now; the FJ's lugnuts require more torque than your civic's engine produced! =)

I called around to find mine. It helps to talk to real people (for me).

Re: 2001 Civic is sold, now time is here to find my FJ

JimmyHoops posted this 3 days ago on another thread:

"Just drove past Go Toyota (formerly John Elway Toyota) today off of Arapahoe road in Englewood, Colorado.....It was like 31 flavors....They have at least 30 FJs in every flavor and setup imaginable parked in a row (clearly visible from the street).

Anyone in the area looking...with that type of inventory, I'm sure they would be willing to strike a deal.

I'll try to take a picture tomorrow...it's quite a specticle.

P.S. Some of them are already decked out with lift kits and custom bumper/winch combos done at the dealer....definately the most FJs I've seen at one dealer...."

If you want to travel, they might have one, and if they have 30 you might be able to get a good price.

Thanks for the info., Sky! I might just purchase a one-way ticket to Englewood if they have that many on the lot! I am serious. Even my wife said that it would be a fun and incredibly memorable road trip! I will try and contact the dealership (via e-mail) tomorrow. Thanks again! If you could post a pic of what you saw, that would be grand!
