FJ Vs Tahoe Vs Landcruiser Vs Rangerover

I've been going through tons of debates with my brother, who claims that Range rovers beat the heck outta Land Cruisers and FJ's, and that his Z-71 Tahoe could beat an FJ off-roading easily. Instead of arguing with him I decided to just got your opinons on these, THEN argue with him, hopefully with some good reasons about why it is, or isn't.

I've heard Land Cruisers are better than Range Rovers, and I've heard that Range Rovers are better than Land Cruisers, but NEVER, NEVER have I heard that a Chevy Tahoe could be better at off-roading than a Jeep or FJ Cruiser, what do you guys think?

Why don't you just settle it by taking him wheeling?

Seems simple to me. You'll find certain situations where his does better than your's and vice versa. It's true with almost ANY vehicle.

The Tahoe is the superior offroad vehicle, hands down.

There are very few circumstances where a Tahoe will prevail, the only reason that it would ever in my opinion is its longer wheelbase, which can be advantageous in certain circumstances, but still-- Tahoe's where NOT designed with any INTENT of offroading. Do they even come with low range gearing?!

Re: FJ Vs Tahoe Vs Landcruiser Vs Rangerover

hands down? you must mean hands down under the body to tie tow straps right?

i can't count the number of times i got hung up... tahoe = fun in mud, fun in snow (or driving to lake tahoe!)

this was all me.

as an driver of those mentioned vehicles (minus the jeep) i say Land Cruiser> FJC > Land Rover (Not RR) > >...> Tahoe.

EDITZ: Oh wait. i sense sarcasm. =P

The Tahoe IS low range gearing. The heartbeat of America.

Yep, there is low range gearing... gotta love those pushbuttons, though.

Re: FJ Vs Tahoe Vs Landcruiser Vs Rangerover

No way a Tahoe could come close do doing the type of 4 wheeling we've been doing around here. It is too wide and way too long. It would get high-centered and stuck immediately. It is better for hauling gear and people for towing.

My understanding is that Land Cruisers are also pretty good for off-road. They are just more expensive to start with.

Many people argue the Range Rover is the ultimate off-road vehicle. It is hard to argue that Land Rovers suck. They have been there and done that since before Toyota even started making FJs. They are sweet. They also start at $75K.

It would be really nice to have a Tahoe. I could use it to tow my FJ somewhere to take it offroad.

indeed. i got stuck SEVERAL times. but it got out of mud like i was dry cement.

i'd take a 95 land rover any day for some nice tip toeing over terrain... fairly cheap too.
