****, it finally happened.

My 3 week old FJ got it's first dent today because we have a bunch of lazy asses that don't return their food carts back to cart corrals. So yeah, it was a windy day and I was parked in a Walmart parking lot when all of a sudden I gear a loud thump from the outside. I'm like, ****, WTF was that?! I bolted right out of my FJ thinking someone might of done it on purpose, but no, it was just the effing wind slamming food carts all over the place. The paint was unscathed, but the door panel did get a nice little dimple.... I can safely say this without being hypocritical about it; But this **** could have been avoided if we had less lazy lard asses in America that just can't seem to walk that extra step to drop-off their food cart. These are the same people that drive around parking lots for hours TRYING to find a parking spot right next to the entrance. I always try to avoid this crap by parking as far away from the crowd as possible. Unfortunately, today wasn't my day.

Dude... I feel your pain. I am one to always return the cart to where it is ment to be stored when not being used. I do it just to make the people waitting to take my spot to wait longer. I can't begain to tell you how many people have honked their horns and even yelled at me that I am taking to much time returning the cart. back when my 2 kids were in dipers my wife would change them in the back seat knowing a car was waitting to park where we were. Just to piss them off.

....But, dammit, it's only 3 weeks old. You know I'm surprised the damage wasn't more extensive considering the amount of force behind that food cart when it slammed on my FJ,. I guess I'm lucky in that regard, lol.

Re: ****, it finally happened.

If the dent is a dimple, and there isn't much or any paint damage, then I would definitely look up a paintless dent repair outfit in your area. I used to have a great guy for this in south Jersey, but he got out of the business a few years back. It was amazing what he could do. $70 and most dents just disappear. The only ones that gave him a hard time was anything that created a crease, and he even managed to get some of those out. If the paint is marred they will polish it, but it won't look perfect.

Re: ****, it finally happened.

Well, that's what you get for shopping at Wal Mart.

I'm only kidding, it really sucks to have a dent that wasn't your fault.

I mean, dents and scratches that have good stories, awesome, but when someone asks 'where'd you get that one' and you say 'walmart', just not that impressive.

My advice?

Run it in to something bigger to cover it up / distraction with a better story

Re: ****, it finally happened.

I don't mind a scratch, dent, etc. if I do it, but other people that don't give a crap about anything, but their next Whopper, really get me riled up.
These people are stupid, and due to genetics, their parents were stupid as well. There is no way they will ever change...like my ex.
anyway, the solution to this is being defensive. I always park next to a curb, like at one of the landscape islands many lots have now...at least one side is protected. Try and park at a higher elevation that the car next to you so if it's a kid or lardass the door won't just fly open due to gravity..WHACK! On a windy day, always park upwind of any perceived shopping cart pathway.
There are several threads about members getting jacked out of shape when dinged, especially when it's due to carelessness or on purpose.
My wife always gives me shiite, "why are you parking so far away from the store?" I just give her 'the look', and she says "ohhh".
I have this little gremlin on my shoulder that tells me to retaliate...an eye for an eye, but so far I have resisted that. Parking lot rage!
