Just installed K & N air filter, Oil change with K & N oil filter with Royal Purple

Been reading some thread and decide to go with K & N air filter and Royal Purple oil with K & N oil filter. I do not notice much performance difference however, I do hear air sucking in when it hit gas aggressively. I use to use K & N on my older cars and I felt little difference in performance. I will be happy to see some MPG increase by this change. From what I am reading, oil change(royal purple) saves about 1 mpg and K & N air filter also helps 1 mpg... Yes, I did not buy FJ to worry about MPG but more MPG is better. More gas money for OFF ROADING. I get 18.5 mpg before this change. I will keep you guys posted what I get with this change.

Throw on a lift kit and 285s and your gain may disappear. I have heard good things about Royal Purple but, then again, I've heard good things about all synthetics.

Alrighty! This is the third time today I've heard mention of Royal Purple Synthetic. I've been a Mobil1 guy for at least 10 years, but from what I have heard and read recently, I am seriously considering switching to RP. At $6/qt for MB1, it's not a big stretch at $7/qt for RP. With a possible gain in HP and MPG, what's another $6 dollars (DIY).

Update...

Not much of MPG gain. I use to get 18.5mpg and now I am getting 18.9 mpg. 4x4 AT. Roof rack. I was expecting 2 to 3 mpg improvement by reading thread here. I just went through 1st tank after change. Not sure if I will get more after... I do notice smoother engine and better pick up.
