a) its Toyota Territory Off-Roaders Association...not just Tacoma's

b) My family has been in Napa Valley 100 years. Way before winery's and tourists and we wish they would go away. I can see their point (not sure I would go about it that way tho...)

Re: avoid these anti off road business in moab

I found that thread a little confusing.

Re: avoid these anti off road business in moab

After I read the what ever it is called it didn't realy seem like much of a anty access proposel but rather for roads/improvments not allowed in sertan areas. I could be wrong and would love to see what every one thinks about what was said.

Re: avoid these anti off road business in moab

I'd make sure on the list before getting to wild. The owner of Moabilia is a member and past president of the Red Rock 4 Wheelers and supports off roading.
In one of my last club newsletters the mentioned that some of the businesses on this list never signed it but unknowingly answered some vague questions on the phone and later found out that they were on the list. There are also a couple of businesses that have new owners that do support four wheeling also.

Re: avoid these anti off road business in moab

you do realise that list is 2 years old
and that the foundation behind it was SUWA or southern Utah wilderness alliance
when the list came out, and it was printed in a letter welcoming the new governor into office in a Salt Lake City Newspaper. Several Access groups jumped on it within a day
I spent a week in Moab interviewing owners and managers who were hoodwinked by the letter, the were brought in to beleive they were signing a letter to welcome in the governor as a business group and in no way thought they were to sign a anti access letter, others on the list are in full argreement with it.
We will state that the reprecussions from the list being posted on every website that was worth it's low range in the 4x4 community brought on quick recantments by over 2/3rds of the guys who signed and that year window banners were in many windows recnating as boycotts were showing the power of the 4x4 community.
Bringing up the letter today is rubbing salt in the wounds of businesses that would rather see it all just go away, after all why would businesses that rely on 4x4ers money to stay open, sign that letter openly.
It is old news that has already been handled and needs to die.

Re: avoid these anti off road business in moab

you want to really do something to help
first go to
Southern Utah Wilderness Alliance: SUWA Homepage
and read their bull doodoo about how they are saving the land, and learn to recognise their dirty underhanded tactics
then Join Tread Lightly - Home
and other organizations that are pro access.

tread lightly has government support and is becoming one of the largest voices in pro access, plus it's number one reason to be there is to educate people how to tread lightly so we can keep open our public lands
