FJ Cruiser: "A one-generation boutique vehicle?"

Man... that would be GREAT for resale values!!!!

Toyota's Future Gameplan - AutoWeek

FJ Cruiser: A redesign is likely for the 2012 model year, with lots of special editions and a reskin for the 2010 model year. It may be a one-generation boutique vehicle.

The Better Half works for Toyota and she tells me that that most likely means: "Discontinued Shortly Afterward 2012."

Re: FJ Cruiser: "A one-generation boutique vehicle?"

"Boutique vehicles" are developed to meet specific customer needs. Unlike vehicles produced in mass quanitites. I don't think the term "one generation" implies it will be shortly discontinued, especially with updates already planned for 2010 and 2012.

Re: FJ Cruiser: "A one-generation boutique vehicle?"

I remember the salesman where I bought my FJ mentioned something about this. He said it would be like the MR2 spyder or something (maybe a different car) but in a nut shell, limited production depending on popularity, demand etc. I don't remember exactly what he said, but he insinuated it would only be in production for 4 or 5 years.
