BTW, almost the only way you can get a CCW in SF is to be retired SFSD or SFPD. It's a "NO ISSUE" jurisdiction and I'm not even sure other retired LEOs can get one in SF (they probably can)

But being a retired peace officer gives you the OK to be CCW with your ID anywhere in the US (HR 218)....right?
Yeah, a retired (non-SFPD or non-SFSD) LEO living in SF would obviously have to get their HR 218 authority from their original department.
Of course, they would have to meet CA's annual requalification standards.
Ya know Steve, on my Mustang forum, I started an "Ask a Cop" thread. It had rules like no cop bashing and we will NOT tell you how to get out of a ticket (but we will tell you how to avoid one). Maybe have one of those type threads here since most parts of the North American Continent are represented by LE? Just a suggestion....
I do the same thing on several hunting and fishing forums and an off road vehicle forum in Connecticut. I'm lucky because my department approves of and encourages my participation. It's turned out to be a great public relations and public education tool for our agency. We have gotten a lot of support on different issues by the members of the forums, in particular on ctfisherman.com
