Rear Window Strap

I have been using a quick and easy strap to hold my rear window open, thought some of you guys might want to use one too. It is made from 2 small beener clips sold at ACE Hardware as key rings. The black strap comes with them along with a split ring. I just removed the split ring and put the second beener on the other end.

One beener clips on the rear window, the other pushes into the rear window locking mechanism. It also turns the little red light off on the dash.

Total cost $3.00

Re: Rear Window Strap

Neat idea, but it seems like bumps at speed would just make it slam back shut. One of those beeners could smash the window no?

It is for street use, I keep my rear window closed when off road to keep out the dust. I've not had any issue with it yet and have used it for 7-8 months or so.

The first small one looks like it would work well. Just has to have a small enough loop to fit inside the hole for the locking mechanism. I like what I have and have had no issues with it and it keeps my dog from jumping out as well. God help the idiot that trys to unlatch it with Gus in the back. He is a real nice Black Lab until you mess with his truck or any of his people.

Re: Rear Window Strap

cool idea. how do you keep your interior dome light off, without having to switch it to the "always off" position?

Re: Rear Window Strap

By clicking the clip into the lock the light stays off
it thinks the window is closed, you can lock your doors and arm the alarm if you have one

Exactly BZ, although I close mine to lock it when the dog id not with me. I installed a button on the back door like Wesayso did in his thread so I can unlock the window and door without the key. The button is on the top of the rear door by the window.
