Stopped for gas on the Interstate this morning. Since the FJ started beeping when I opened the door, I removed the key from the ignition and set it in the center console. Sometime while I was pumping gas, the FJ decided to lock the doors.
Fortunately, I was only about 10 miles (and not 500) from home. Another guy getting gas was kind enough to drive me back to the apartment for the spare FJ key and then drive me back to the gas station. I also lucked out that the apartment manager was there with a spare house key.
I can't find this auto-locking "feature" described in the owner's manual. It does warn against leaving the key in the ignition when small children are in the car, but if you remove the key and set it on the console, you'll lock the kids in the car. Can this auto-locking "feature" be disabled?
