Smile New with FJ on it's way

LMAO, oops I messed up the title of this thread. I meant to say "New Member." Hey everybody, just found this place and I can already tell that it's going to be a great source of information, and comeraderie, when my FJ arrives. My name is Tony, I live in Florida, and my wife is one of those Toyota salespeople that you all seem to strongly dislike, LOL! So, I got some really cool FJ swag from the FJ release training that she attended. Anyway, I've been following / drooling over the FJ since late 2002 when I first saw a company photo of the autoshow prototype.

We just ordered a Black Diamond 4x4 FJ with "Upgrade Package #2" and it's due mid to late June. We were forced to wait to order ours so that my wife could get one at $150.00 over dealer invoice. The store owner made her wait so he could assess the demand for the FJ.

I've been searching the web, and dreaming, about my new ride ever since we placed the order. I'm growing more excited as I count the days but I also have received some razzing for living in FL and buying a 4WD, especially a 4WD that's not a Jeep. I'm actually getting tired of hearing "why do you need a 4WD, there's no hills in Florida." IMHO, buying a 2WD FJ would be like buying a Firebird, Camaro, or Mustang, with a V6. In addition, anyone who has ever driven in an area, hit directly by a Hurricane, knows the value of the ability to go most anywhere. (I almost couldn't get my Trans Am out of the drive after Charley.)

Anyway, I really think I'm going to have fun here and I know I'm going to be asking a lot of questions. I look forward to bringing you lots of pictures and any inside info that my wife is privvy to.

Subject: IMPORTANT! FJ Information

FJ Accessory Supply Update

Due to supply shortages, the following port installed accessories are turned off until further notice:

· EX90 – Sport Exhaust

· PD30 – Door Sill Protector

· PW50 changed to PW40 due to cargo mat shortage

· SK10 – Skid Plate

· TR10 – Rock Rails

In order to expedite the shipment of FJ’s, we will delete the above accessories and ship on all non Pre-sold vehicles. You will be contacted by phone regarding your pre-sold vehicles. Please feel free to contact the Accessories Department immediately if your dealership has a pre-sold FJ with one or more of the affected accessories. We are actively working with TMS to resolve these supply issues and will keep you informed of the progress. As soon as supply is available from TMS, the above accessories will be turned back on for both PIO and DIO.

I think I'd refrain from mentioning that bit of information since you're likely to be the ONLY person posting here that's gotten such a great deal, and people being the way they are, jealousy might rear it's ugly head. I for one am quite happy for you, even though our respective vehicle cost difference is likely to be in the mid four figures. Its nice to see that someone somewhere got a good deal.

Trust me bro, for the long hours that she works, and the B.S. that she has to put up with, that's the least they could do! She averages 20 plus cars a month but to do that works 55 hours a week and deals with 60 "strokes," as she calls them, just to do that. Plus, she has been begging the owner, and GM, since 2005. I guess they wanted to shut her up.

Re: New with FJ on it's way

Tony,

Well, If she works in the industry, I would expect her to get an employee discount or professional courtesy price of some sort. That's just the nature of the beast in sales. And as anyone in sales knows, it is much easier to move a product if you actually use/own it yourself. Although I wouldn't expect every car salesperson to rotate cars in your garage like taking the trash out, I do think that it sounds like she earned the right to get a great deal. Thanks for the heads-up on the accessories availability. Looks like someone at Toyota didn't do their homework with regard to accessories production numbers...and that there are fewer "kids" and "soccer-moms" buying FJs. That's a good thing.

Congrats on the new FJ, welcome to the forum, and if you would keep us posted on the delivery schedules of accessories that would be a great contribution to the forum.

~Jimmy

P.S. does she have an inside line on when the air dam/off road light assembly will be available?

DH is a mechanic for the "chain" we are buying from, and they won't give him his employee discount (10% over invoice or something like that?) because of the demand for the FJ. They are waiving processing fees . . . I don't know, I am sure that we are going to end up getting screwed somehow.

Be careful, Tony, you are about to get sucked in to the point of no return here.

What kind of cool FJ swag did you get? Taking bids?? LOL!

Re: New with FJ on it's way

I ordered an FJ with some blue sky six weeks or less expected date. Truth is I have no idea if/when it will show up or if it will arrive as expected and in what regard the dealer will try to hose me.
My glass is half empty.

Will do for sure! We actually wrote that in on our order even though there was no official acessory number for it. In our opinion, the off road lights make the FJ and can't see why Toyota would axe this option. I will see what she can find out and will forward that info, or any other FJ info, that she receives.

BTW, she's reading over my shoulder and just told me that a new salesperson wanted to order a FJ as well. The owner quoted him MSRP. So, she has earned this because she's damn good and has been with Toyota for 7 years.
