Hey everybody...I'm new here (though not new to online forums). I like the FJ and am looking to purchase my first vehicle...I need something that's reliable, great off-roading, has a good amount of aftermarket items, looks good, can tow 3 quads (on a trailer), and will last for more than 5 years. I've narrowed down my options, starting with the FJ, H3, Wrangler, Tacoma, Colorado, TrailBlazer, and XTerra, and have landed here - at the FJ. I'm wondering what the aftermarket will be like in 2 years, and how much I would need to spend to get one used next summer. Thanks all!
Welcome to forum, Roody, its always good to see new folks here. This is a great place to learn things and a lot of folks here have great ideas and knowledge about the FJs. Some are exceptionally creative, have fun. Use the Search for topics or questions as well, you will be amaze how much info is out there.
Welcome. These are the general forum rules. Use the search fxn, have fun, don't be mean, learn a lot about the FJ, & post interesting or funny stuff. Stick with these and you should be fine.
To get one used next summer. I'm guessing about $23-24K for a loaded out one, especially since that's the way they are coming now at $29-32K. If you can find one without the CQ package, then your're tooking at $18K probably.

I would think the resale market should be pretty good in a year or so if you want to pick up a first year release. I don't think it will be flooded, but with the possibility of “special edition” releases and a new model year with possible revisions I think a fair amount of early owners will be “upgrading” to a newer model. I also think you can expect the after market offering to be strong with excellent support. I have always found both the Toyota and off road community to not only be loyal, but vocal also which helps push product development. I can't give you any idea on cost, but I would think you should have no problem picking up a great product at a fair price and still save some good money over buying new.
Pete

1st for 23 to 24 ytou are not going get a special edition
you have a long list of options there, and state you want to go offroading, what kind of offroading do you ant to do
the vehicles you state are all over the board offroad
rockcrawling, fire roads, sand?
ya got to let someone know what you want to do.
now if you want to tow, scratch the H3, its engine barely poprls itself, also the wrangler has a low towing capacity, thats because of its extremely short wheelbase, the colorado is the platform the H3 is built off ofso it will not tow either, now you have 4 options, however the trailblazer has lousy aftermarket support, so you are left with the FJC the Taco and the Xpira, from there look for how much interior or exterior cargo capacity and the mark quailty, and you are left with 2 options, a truck, Taco, or a SUV, FJC
