I have been reading WAY too many posts and horror stories about folks w/ deposits down and waiting months, demo cars w/ your name on it and the dealer will not release it. Let me tell you what I did.
We decided we wanted and FJ, SIX DAYS LATER I TOOK POSESION OF IT. It was a 3 day wait once I put my 500 down.
GO to www.Toyota.com's web site and find the area where you are to enter your zip code, now, I don't care how you find other zip codes in the area just find them. I ended up calling over 30 dealers. I asked what they had in stock and if they didn't have what I wanted I gave them my name and number and asked for a call as soon as they had one coming in. I actually turned away a good 6-8 vehicles that were exactly what I wanted but the dealers were either asking more than msrp or they threw $1500.00 worth of rims and wheels on them and jacked the price up $3500.00 . For instance Famly Toyota, in I believe it was Mission Veijo, flat out refused to remove the dealer add on's, they lost my deal. Another dealer did the same, the salesman said OK, "we will put the stock rims and wheels back on it" and then the sales manger nixed the deal, yea I could have made a federal case out of it, instead I took my 35K elsewhere. (we got a 1600$ warranty GET IT!)
I ended up at Power Toyota in Cerritos. Go through the internet, fill in their form and go FLEET DEAL. You will get NO BULL****. I had my FJ in 3 days and they gave me a VIN OVER THE PHONE as soon as I said OK! Ask for Richie Misa.
Yea, 30 calls took a LOT OF WORK but do you want it now or do you want to sucumb to the dealer games & BS. No way in Hades would I buy a demo truck, EVERYONE FLOORS IT to see how fast it goes and the instruction manual CLEARLY STAES to be cool on the engine for at least 1000 miles.
SO, thats how I did it, now GO GET YOURS AND QUIT WHINING! DO NOT PAY ONE PENNY OVER MSRP, DO NOT FALL FOR THE DEALER ADD ON's.

Oh, Yes I received a few calls after I got mine, I thanked them and that was it. NO MORE SALES CALLS, it is done.
