Re: Flashlight: Taskforce 3W LED.

nice. i am in love with my surefire. my dad has been looking for a nice light since he likes mine so much. what is run time on those two C batteries? the only thing i really like about mine is it is such an intense powerful light. when i run at night if a dog comes after me, very common thing around here, i hit its eyes with the light and it stops dead in its tracks. i guarantee for another 10 minutes at night he wont know what he is barking at.

I've not had to change the batteries yet. I have maybe 3 hours on them so far. I read that they are good for 12 hours or so.

My kid likes to play with it. He calls it Yoda's light saber.

thats the only thing that is poor with my light is the run time. it uses 123a batteries. they cost about $1.75 each and it eats two at a time once a week. i am thinking of building a surefire G2 LED with a body extended and their rechargable battery.

Re: Flashlight: Taskforce 3W LED.

I was looking pretty hard at the Surefires. The drawback was as you've described. C batteries are more readily available and cheaper. Although it's not as compact, I don't have to worry about it going out. Though I should probably run a pair down just to see exactly how long they last.

they are a great light. even with the runtime, you still wont ever buy another light. go look at a outdoorsman or L4, L1. those are great lights. i personally use a L4. if i had to do it over again, i might go for a G2 LED for a starter light. but i have zero regrets about my L4. awesome.

Re: Flashlight: Taskforce 3W LED.

I picked up one of these last week. Good bang for the buck and the lifetime warranty "just return to any Lowes..." sold me. The weight and the size are good enough that it can be used as a weapon in a pinch, but I doubt it'll take the punishment that a D-cell maglight can in that regard. The only gripe I had is that the C batteries tend to rattle inside, and that's no good for stalking wildlife. But sticking a folded post-it-note around the middle of each battery snugged them up and got rid of the rattle.

Re: Flashlight: Taskforce 3W LED.

This is the one i got from Home Depot, i love it
~very small and you can take it with anywhere and not feel weighted down
~only takes 3 triple a batteries (comes with 2 sets)
~batteries last a long time
~LED with powerchip (very bright)

SORRY, I CAN'T FIGURE OUT HOW TO POST THIS PIC...

the light is made by COAST LED LENSER, CHECK THEIR SITE

The Cree. It's the one that said 60x brighter and XLAMP. It's a lot brighter and a tighter beam than my 2D and 3D LED Maglights. Perfect size for the FJ's center console. I'll try to post a beam comparison shot between the Taskforce, both maglights and a 2 AA mini-maglight.
