The Toyota Land Cruiser Association is probably the best vehicle-specific organization you could possibly join.
And yes, they are more than "hip" to the FJ Cruiser. Matter of fact the FJC has become a common staple at TLCA events and feature articles within in the TLCA magazine ("Toyota Trails").
Many FJ Cruiser owners are also current (or former) FJ25, FJ40, FJ60, FJ80 and FJ100 Land Cruiser owners. And, you'll find a large number of members of this great Forum who are not only TLCA members, but also writers/contributors to the TLCA magazine.
Agree 100% When Wesley Chapel Toyota set up a Cruiser Jam and mud fest here in FL they showed up in strength and were very friendly and informative.
They gave us FJ owners a lot of tips and invites to their functions and runs.
Not to be too arguementative Al but, Mindtrick & I set up the Cruiser Jam. Wesley Chapel hosted it and with the relationship we started with them has been wonderful on both sides. I think they are getting all of the service work from the Tampa area (& mine from Orlando) and hopefully we have generated sales for them as well. They have done warranty work on our busted up FJ's without batting an eyelash (when other dealers on this forum have been less than accepting to our off roading taste).
Josh and I will put it on with Curt & Corvin next year and right now I am working with the trail team and the State of GA so we can have some real obstacles and Toyota backing. The old school cruisers there were mostlyfrom the FLCA and that effort was spearheaded by Jerry Dixon (pres of FLCA) and while there might have been TLCA members there (I am a memer of both) I think most of the kind words you extended should probably be directed at FLCA folks. I look forward to seeing you out there again next year (or earlier if you have a event or you come down here). Our goal is 100+ Toyotas next year! Karl
The tradition of Landcruisers is so inherent in the FJ Cruiser, that the FJ Cruiser Trail Team attempts to schedule their events around TLCA chapter events. It is part of the grass roots approach that Toyota was looking for.
There are some who believe their **** does not stink that will explain to you all day why the FJC does not belong in the tradition and lineage of the Landcruiser, but the fact of the matter is; Toyota, Jin Woo Kim and Akio Nishimura designed the FJC intentionally to continue the heritage of the Landcruiser.
...and I was just featured in their trade publication Toyota Trails, so sign up.
guaranteed, there are some old school Cruiser owners that are not fans of the FJC....I can also come up with more than a dozen that are impressed with the FJ after seeing it on the trails and wheeling the rig..and a few who now own them.
I'm TLCA member #1548....joined in 1992 or so. The Toyota Trails magazine is a great publication, and the vast majority of their membership is great as well.
The Trails has developed from a photocopied newsletter to the high quality color magazine that it it now.....and if you haven't attended a TLCA event or hooked up with one of the many TLCA clubs for one of their event, put them on their list. I've hit TLCA events over the past 5-6 years and have enjoyed every single one immensely...whether it's with my FJ40, my FZJ80, or the FJCruiser that I take now.
Okay, through the miracle of paypal, I await a membership number I'll soon add to my signature. Thanks for the information and inputs. Have to support the "Cruiser" cause, ya know, regardless of the letter or number prefix.
I find it difficult to believe that even after 15 months of ownership, I'm still excited to get in this vehicle to go anywhere. It really is the best thing I've ever driven and at my age, I've had the opportunity to drive quite a few different trucks (SUV's, cars, whatever). I've never for a second regreted buying this thing. I look forward to exploring TLCA now. Thanks again.

Howdy folks;
Yeah, we're hip to the FJC at the TLCA. I was one of the first folks to trail one over the Rubicon with the Toyota staff. While my stable is all older junk, I really liked it. It's a well made, superbly capable rig.
Toyota Trails content is all 100% member written. I welcome each and every one of you to contribute, and help steer TLCA to a future where old and new FJ's are supportive of each other.
thanks for your interest and support;

Welcome to the forum. It's great to have you over here as well!!
And as always, thank you for the great job that you and the rest of the TLCA membership are doing for both the Toyota 4x4 community and off-roading in general.
