The Toyota Land Cruiser Association is probably the best vehicle-specific organization you could possibly join.
And yes, they are more than "hip" to the FJ Cruiser. Matter of fact the FJC has become a common staple at TLCA events and feature articles within in the TLCA magazine ("Toyota Trails").
Many FJ Cruiser owners are also current (or former) FJ25, FJ40, FJ60, FJ80 and FJ100 Land Cruiser owners. And, you'll find a large number of members of this great Forum who are not only TLCA members, but also writers/contributors to the TLCA magazine.

Howdy folks;
Yeah, we're hip to the FJC at the TLCA. I was one of the first folks to trail one over the Rubicon with the Toyota staff. While my stable is all older junk, I really liked it. It's a well made, superbly capable rig.
Toyota Trails content is all 100% member written. I welcome each and every one of you to contribute, and help steer TLCA to a future where old and new FJ's are supportive of each other.
thanks for your interest and support;

Welcome Alan!!!

"Good people sleep peacefully at night safe in the knowledge that rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf" (George Orwell)
I joined the TLCA while waiting on the production and delivery of my FJC.
I then found the local chapter and attended my first meeting. Not only was I taken in with open arms, ( Thank you Mark Hawley from Metal-Tech!), but was given a raffle prize for havimg the newest 4 WD toyota in the parking lot.
The brotherhood of this group was unlike anything I had encountered, a multitude of knowledge of all things toyota and 4 wheel drive, more trail experience than Lewis and Clarke, and people that woud give you the shirt off their back, the last biscuit on their plate or the spare parts off their rigs, if any of that would help on the trail!
Which leads to the real reason I joined, (besides the sticker). You get access to the local chapter, with many organized and un-official trail runs, it gives you a chance to learn the trail systems in your own neck of the woods. And a chance to participate in TLCA sactioned events across the country.
And yes, after seeing what the old FJ's are about, and falling in love, I bought a 1963 FJ45, and will buy more if I can figure out how to keep the old lady happy as she parks on the street!
Support TLCA, and you'll find it is you who benefits!- Bill

We've been to a couple of Rising Sun (colorado's active tlca group) events and have never felt singled out with the FJC. Cruise Moab was one of the first events I went to and there were a fair amount of fjc's including the fjc trails team. What a blast we had!
I have FJ60 and now FJ120 (Cruiser) and while there are a few that snub the FJC there are many more that embrace it into the fold.
I agree it is the best vehicle specific offroad group out there. I joined and while the magazine is mostly non-FJC types...the reality is that there is only a few years with FJC and decades with the other LandCruisers. Just the way it rolls.
I would definitely join if I was you. Also, I would find the nearest Toyota Trail Team event and go and check it out yourself. Even if you dont drive your FJ on the trails you can sign up to go out in a Trail Team vehicle with them showing you how to best wheel your own...safely and without damage.
Good luck

I am on the Board of Directors of 2 TLCA chapters (Georgia Crusiers and Upstate Crusiers) and have written articles for Toyota Trails about specific trail riders and Land Use on occasion.
Besides the magazine though, TLCA is a way that local chapters can hold TLCA sanctioned events. For example, this May was The Great Smoky Mountain Trail Ride (GSMTR) at Tellico. Without TLCA, the STLCA would not have been able to do this because they provide insurance for sanctioned rides. These rides are for members of TLCA and give you a great way to get out there, learn your truck, learn to drive, enjoy the company of friends that share the same interests, participate in motorized recreation with your family, etc.
I am a member and will stay one as long as I own a Toyota.

When I purchased my FJC over 2 years ago now, I joined the TLCA when I got home. I traded in my Tacoma for it. About 2 months later I attended my first wheeling event, Toyota Tall Corn (now the Tall Corn Cruiser Classic) and have been hooked since. I've attended Cruise Moab, the Black Hills Cruiser Classic, wheeled with some folks from Hoosier Cruisers, and attended Get Flat Nasty with Tornado Alley Cruisers. Since my first wheeling event, we got a group of folks in Iowa together and started a TLCA chapter (it only takes 6 TLCA members to start a chapter). I'm 2 years into this sport, still loving my FJC and now an active member of TLCA, serving as their Secretary. If I can say to anyone that has a passion for the outdoors and wheeling, this is the club to join. And the bottom line...it's not about the vehicles, it's about the people(it's like meeting long lost relatives)! I've made many a friend over the last 2 years, and look forward to meeting many more of the Toyota enthusiasts out there!
