I was checking out the TLCA website and just wondered if it's worth joining. Are they hip to FJ's or are they just Land Cruiser only? What are the benefits, if any, to joining?
I joined when I got my FJ. Used to own an FJ40 back when... so I still like the old rigs. I've bveen kinda disappointed with the "Toyota Trails" magazine since it's main focus is on the old model Land Cruisers and IMO not enough on the FJ Cruisers. Apparently the new FJs don't appeal much to the "purists". I won't be renewing my membership.

LOL!........Ya Drunk Drivin Nick Nolte knucklehead.
The Toyota Land Cruiser Association is probably the best vehicle-specific organization you could possibly join.
And yes, they are more than "hip" to the FJ Cruiser. Matter of fact the FJC has become a common staple at TLCA events and feature articles within in the TLCA magazine ("Toyota Trails").
Many FJ Cruiser owners are also current (or former) FJ25, FJ40, FJ60, FJ80 and FJ100 Land Cruiser owners. And, you'll find a large number of members of this great Forum who are not only TLCA members, but also writers/contributors to the TLCA magazine.

I beg to differ, Steve. Here are just a few recent TLCA features.
I was curious about it too. Glad to see someone asked the question. I have fallen in love with the FJC's but used to look at the old ones and drool. Being a former equestrian, the FJ series was very desirable at the barns and the hunt fields. That is where I saw them first when I was an early teenager. To me, they are like a good Barbour jacket, bomb proof. I always wanted one. I am glad to see that the old school FJ owners are cool with the new version.

Agree 100% When Wesley Chapel Toyota set up a Cruiser Jam and mud fest here in FL they showed up in strength and were very friendly and informative.
They gave us FJ owners a lot of tips and invites to their functions and runs.
I am glad to see that the old school FJ owners are cool with the new version.
Not only that, but you'll also see more and more of the reverse effect . . . . where FJ Cruiser owners are now getting so hooked on the vintage FJ's, that they're starting to buy them for their personal "fleet" as well.
When the words "FJ" or "Cruiser" are used, you'll find that it's all one big happy family.
Interesting topic - and very appropriate for me. I am just about ready to leave to attend my first local TLCA chapter meeting tonight. I have been posting along with the membership on the IH8MUD.com and they seem very open about FJCs. In fact, when I posted a pic of my rig, they said very nice things and it seemed genuine. I will let you know after the meeting, but I am looking forward to hitting the trails with them in the future.
