FJ @ 17 Below Zero ( F )
17 Below Zero ( F ) Hunting Elk. It is a gooood thing the FJ has a good heater
A little bit NIPPIE this morning. I went to a ranch I call the Divide. It is located on both sides of the Continental Divide.
When I got to the ranch gate it was Minus 10
A better look
I had about a mile to go down in a valley to get where I wanted to be and figured down in the valley it would probably get a little colder. YUP!!! I was right.
I found some elk moving thru the timber
I have to get to the next ridge so I can try for some close ups.
A nice young Bull
I used a cow call to get them to stop.
I noticed a couple of cows up above the two bulls.
The other Bull.
enjoy
roger

Great pics. We don't see many New Mexico pics on here except from that little Montana dude.
Are elk good for chewing on ? Maybe some elk jerky ?

YUP!!! it was pretty NIPPIE. My FJ doesn't seem to mind the cold it starts just fine and the heater gets hot plenty fast enough for me.
Thanks for the nice comment about my photos.

Those aren't good photos. Those are FANTASTIC photos. What was their distance when you stopped them with the cow call, and what sort of e-F'ing-normous telephoto lens were you using to make them look that close up and sharp???

great photos!
I always wondered if there was a dash cover for the FJ. Did you buy that locally?

It's a good thing you had your FJ's dash blanket on.
-9F here last night. I keep it plugged in all night when it goes below 0.
