Re: Possible FJ Purchase

Welcome Aboard!

take your time and do as much research as you can, it's your money after all.

Having said that, I am a fromer jeeper and did not like it from day one. I have zero exp. with the Hummer. and finally with the FJ I have only had it since early Nov. of this year. I have almost 3,000 miles and have had no problems. every vehicle is going to have it's own quirks, I have had my share of many brands out there and even the ones with high reviews aren't perfect.

It comes down to what is going to make you smile the most! For me it is my VooDoo Blue FJ.

I really hopes this helps and Good luck.

Re: Possible FJ Purchase

Offroader,

I can only give you my biased opinion. You have asked some very legitimate questions from a group of folks that are, for the most part, very passionate about the FJC. I have had mine since August of 06. The ones sold in 06 were actually 07 models. The 08s only started showing up in the last few months.

The interior is not supposed to be very plush. The idea, from what I understand. was to provide a very tough look with a very durable, long lasting, workability. The knobs for the AC/Heat and all are big for larger hands and for durability.

I have 3 dogs and work construction. Being able to wipe out mud and grime with a sponge (after I vacuum the dry stuff out) is a big plus to me. The seats area also easy to clean as they are water resistent and made for the purpose. The configuration of the interior is about as perfect for my needs as any vehicle I have ever owned, including my Jeep.

The pickup from the Prerunner engine is by far and above one of my favorite parts of my truck. My FJC will run circles around the small block V8 that Ford puts in their F150s. I know because my husband had one for 5 years and my son now has it.

I have not looked at the 4 door Rubicons but I can tell you this, dollar for dollar, I don't think you can find a better value out there. I bought mine, TT&L included for $27,753.66. I did not get the 4wd as I did not need it for my lifestyle. I do use the Auto LSD in bad weather and can tell you that it has the same feel that high 4 did in my Jeep.

Hope this assessment helps you some. I don't off road so there are much better sources on this forum that can answer those types of questions. I simply saw your post last night as an open door for some folks to really give you a tough time but only because they are protective and proud of their rides.

Kim

Re: Possible FJ Purchase

Just go drive all three and make up your own mind. If you need convincing, a test drive is the best way to go.

Re: Possible FJ Purchase

There all good and needed to be researched and test driven before I made my decision. I made my choice and am very pleased with my FJ. Good luck, have a blast testing the vehicles.

Re: Possible FJ Purchase

Look at the quality of each vehicle and all the write ups you can find on each. Way what you get for the money and I know you will not be able to deny that the FJ comes out on top. Like others have said, there were no 06 FJ's but they were out in that calendar year but were 07's. As far as the frame cracks I have not heard of this but I can speak for my 07 and that it is the best truck that I have ever had. It puts the jeep to shame in my opinion, again my opinion. I do not know myself anyone with the H3 that gets it dirty, now I know there are those that do as there are pics on this site to prove that.

07 FJ, AT, Black Cherry, roof rack, side steps, option e, etc.........

Re: Possible FJ Purchase

Welcome!

I was seriously looking at the Wrangler 4-door and the FJ...the H3 wasn't even an option - I've owned 4 other new GM vehicles and I have already "done my time" so to speak. The main issues for me on the Wrangler was that is way too under powered. The FJ has a very unique and smooth powerband which has yet to dissapoint, even when trailering. As far as interiors I liked the Wranglers, but I liked the more simplistic FJ interior even more - less carpet to deal with etc.
