Possible FJ Purchase

I have narrowed my search down to the Jeep 4 door Rub Unlimited, Hummer H3, and the FJ. A friend of mine had an 2006 FJ and had a lot problems (incl. cracked frame), so I wanted to get so input from you all because I heard the frame prob isn't un-common.

Re: Possible FJ Purchase

Never heard of an 06 FJ. Had my 07 for over 17 months now. Had a Jeep (great truck, 187k). Don't want a Hummer (just not my ride). The Toyota quality and the type of vehicle the FJC is, well, there is no comparison.

Re: Possible FJ Purchase

Welcome aboard! Great folks, info and fun!

Yes, there have been a few FJ's with inner fender cracks. So far, Toyota has been responsive and is working for a permanent fix.

You can read the entire post at: Engine Bay Body Rips

After reading the 2000 plus posts you will see there it no rhyme or reason to what causes the rips. While we are concerned, we collectively are cautiously optomistic that a permanent fix will be found by Toyota.

I am totally satisified with my FJ. It rides well on the highway and is a super performer off-road!

cheers,

dale

Re: Possible FJ Purchase

There are'nt any 2006 FJ's that are even in existence, I dont know how Hummer gets any sales at all...they are just straight up junk, and well Jeeps, riddled with their own set of problems for anyone whom I've ever known to own one. I'm continually amazed by my FJ.

Re: Possible FJ Purchase

Well he got it in 2006 so I guess it might have been an 07 model, but he has had problem after problem (and not just little ones). I am still keeping an open mind but to tell the truth after my test drive I was not impressed with the quality of the interior, and this rose concerns of it's over all quality and I was wondering if you all had quality problems as well.

Re: Possible FJ Purchase

buy the FJ...buy a 08 if you are really worried about fender rips/tears....the fj will out run all of your other pics...the hummer is a dressed up chevy colorado pickup....5 cyl...the 5 cyl chevy motor is plagued with problems...under powerd for the hummer..... the new jeeps are having some minor issues with windshields as well....RR

Re: Possible FJ Purchase

Not really sure what you were expecting to hear when you come on a Forum that has alot of FJ enthusiasts on it. First off if your gonna bash the vehicle at least come prepared. Know the year your talking about to start. And come with accurate information. I will help you out because when you said CRACKED FRAME I will assume you were talking about the bulging or cracked inner fenders. This may be a minor error in words but makes a huge difference in what impact those 2 entirely different parts of the vehicle have. If you friend has had this many problems what exactly are they??????? Cant answer questions unless you provide correct and complete information.

When you speak of poor interior quality is it not fancy enough for you or do you see something defective with the interior finish that was chosen?

If it's not fancy enough for you then not much they can do to help. It was intended to be simple. I have almost 30000 miles on mine and have 3 kids and the interior is holding up better than almost every other vehicle I have owned. No scratches or rips.

Edit to Add:

If it sound like I'm being an a$$ I appoligize. I love my truck but hate missinformation.

Re: Possible FJ Purchase

I like the cheap looking interior. The mud and spilled coffee wash out with my garden hose. Try that with a Hummer or Jeep.

Hopefully, everyone will have the decency not to flame OffRoader by virtue of the fact that he is a Newbie and his questions are legitimate.

BTW, welcome to the Forum, OffRoader!!
