Anyone ordered Multivex mirrors lately?

I put an order in last week for Multivex mirrors but did not receive any confirmation or reply email. I'm guessing the Holidays are a factor but has anyone ordered these lately? Thanks.

Are those the ones that heat up? I saw the DIY but the guys where talking about sending out the mirror to some guy...so with ordering the mirror does that mean you just have to deal with the wiring?

They don't heat up (I wish), they are curved replacements for the OE mirrors that dramatically increase your field of view.

Re: Anyone ordered Multivex mirrors lately?

I got my mirrors delivered by regular US mail last Thursday I think it was. When I ordered, I got confirmation in about 10 minutes and shipping info in about 24 hours. It took about 6-7 days total time. It should be noted that I was told in a conversation with the inventor and owner of the company that it might be several weeks before I got my mirrors because of a problem that they were having with a very large furnace that was used in the MFG process. I might have gotten some of the last FJ mirrors that they had in inventory.

I have already installed the drivers side mirror as well as Burco 6"x7" heating element into the factory mirror holder. It took some very minor mods to the mirror holder to do this and I will post pics and procedures when I do the passenger side. The increased visibility is fantastic. One caution though.. These are front surface mirrors and will scratch easer than standard mirrors, so care is needed when cleaning a really dusty, muddy mirror..

Re: Anyone ordered Multivex mirrors lately?

Thanks for the feedback.

I just got off the phone with them. I found that they have one more set from the first design of the mirrors, however they recently updated shape of the mirror a bit. Because of the equipment repair issue, it looks like I'm just going to be waiting for awhile if I want the new set.

Re: Anyone ordered Multivex mirrors lately?

FJShock, I sure wish they had said something about redesigning the shape of the mirrors. I would have gladly waited for something better if told that! Could you elaborate on what they told you about the redesign ? My first observation when fitting the Multivex into the factory holder was that the shape of the Multivex did not match the shape of the holder very well and I had to use black silicone to fill the gaps. Is it the fit issue that the new design addresses or did they actually change the optical formula/characteristics?

Thanks,

BibbT, we look forward to posting the procedure for the heated Multivex mirrors. DEWFPO

Re: Anyone ordered Multivex mirrors lately?

bibbt,

Yes, the fit of the mirror is what the redesign was for. Apparently, the first design was a bit too rounded on a few of the corners. The person I spoke to said that they received the rearview window housing from someone (likely a member here) and they reshaped it. I have not seen an example but they said that a batch of the redesigned mirrors was sold, so someone out there should have them to show us. From what i've seen in old Multivex threads it should be a minor change, but a change none-the-less.
