What do you guy's/girl's think? I have been throwing around the idea of trading my FJ for a 2008 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited X 4D! I have never owned a Jeep before so i'm sure about the reliablity, worth and just plain what would you choose!!!???? I love the full size 4 doors and standard 4x4 that jeep offers but i love the fact that my FJ in different!!! Any and all suggestions!!!!!
Personally, I would not do it. Not because I don't like Jeeps, I love them. I just think the FJ is a better all around vehicle. Though I would love owning either. Both have their advantages.
What makes you interested in the JK vs. the FJC?
A quick list of the Pros and Cons that I have been looking at, as I plan on getting a FJC for myself next year (hopefully a used trail teams or new base model in white if it comes out)
FJ Pros
Looks good
Proven Off Road capability
Not seen nearly as often as Jeep
Better handling
Better acceleration
Much more comfortable in the long run
Lots of After market support
Being a member of this forum (the guys here are the friendliest of any forum I have ever been on)
More secure (can leave your stuff in it)
Toyota, high resale value
Far better interior layout
FJ Cons
No removable top
No removable doors
Some do not like the looks of it (those people are dumb though)
The blind spot
Jeep Wrangler 2 or 4 door Pros
Proven Off Road history
Good looking
Removable top
Removable doors
Amazing resale value
4 or 2 door options
Cheaper than FJC
Jeep Wrangler 2 or 4 door Cons
Terrible handling
Terrible acceleration
Drinks Gas
High resale value (if buying used you pay almost what you would for it new)
My FJ is not 4x4 and i would like the option to do some off roading if i choose to!!!
You can add a locker with more aggressive tires and do a lot of basic stuff. If you dont wheel hard/often it might be worth it to keep your current FJC as you will lose money in trade/resale.
Granted it is a little harder to get in the backseat of the FJ, but once inside, there is way more room than a wrangler unlimited. I would hardly call the rear doors on the wrangler unlimited full size.
The backseat of the wrangler is just so cramped, which is one of the reason I chose to buy my FJ.
I am not going to completely flame the Jeep because my first vehicle was an old CJ 5 with a 304 V8. It was a Tank! Anyways, I guess it all comes down to how you use your vehicle and what is more important...
