Anyone painted the "Bling" skid plate.

I was thinking of painting that @#$%& thing black. Comments. Questions. Advise. Bring it on.

Re: Anyone painted the "Bling" skid plate.

I painted mine black. Used rustoleum automotive primer (Grey) 2 coats
and rustoleum textured (hammered) black. 2 coats.

Looks way better, doesn't look out of place anymore.

Paint it. I have a Black Cherry and blacked out the bumpers and the skid plate with Rustoleum Flat Black. I used secveral coats and make sure you do the edges and sides as well as the bolts. The underside and edges are visible and prominent if you dont paint them.

It looks really good.

I always wondered. I don't have the fake skid plate, but I wondered if people made it look better, or just ripped it off. I've honestly never been a fan of that bling skid plate.

I haven't painted it. But did manage to bend it up a bit last weekend. Even with a 2" lift.
Oh well. "Character."

Re: Anyone painted the "Bling" skid plate.

As I mentioned on another thread, My TT will be here this week and the first thing I'm gonna do is pull the skids and paint them black with POR15. Don't want no stinkin' silver skids! guaranteed to NEVER rust!

Re: Anyone painted the "Bling" skid plate.

I painted mine flat black, after initially buying the FJ. However, after removing it to get to the sway bar bushings during the 3" lift install, it's been sitting in the corner of the garage providing excellent protection against cobweb spiders...

Re: Anyone painted the "Bling" skid plate.

just take it off, it gets in the way. your rig will take less hits without it.
