new high (or low) on the interstate

I have seen it all. Driving home from work yesterday on the interstate, a guy on a bike pulls up next to me and slows to my speed (65 or so). He cruises for a few seconds then lifts his mask and is talking to me. I roll the window down and he pulls close and tells me he likes the car. Doing 65, he wants to discuss it! If he had said it looked like a little Hummer Id have put him in the wall.

I just waved him on.......too dangerous.

And I had to get off the cell phone AND pause the DVD for that! (just kidding)

Re: new high (or low) on the interstate

I had a convertible fly past me (I was doing 70 or so), then the driver turned completely around to get a look at the front of the FJ. She turned back around before running into the truck in front of her.

I haven't had anyone try to strike up a conversation yet.

Re: new high (or low) on the interstate

Have alot of rubberneckers checking out the FJ...on and off the hwy. Most unusual so far...badass on a Harley pulls along side me at a traffic light, I have stereo jamming...he has vroom vroom going, looks over at me like I'm a piece of dung, smiles, I turn the volume down and he starts raving about the looks of the FJ. I was like...no frigg'n way that just happened...I could have been in a new Vette and not even gotten a nod...I have owned a lot of very cool cars but I have never received so much attention than in this vehicle.
I know it's fresh and this will pass...but it's kinda fun...

Re: new high (or low) on the interstate

It's fun, I agree. But it's also a little unnerving . . . I am noticing more and more that people spend a lot of time looking at the truck in their rear view mirrors . . . scary !!

And I have stopped counting how many ladies gush over how CUTE it is.

Same here. Every woman I've shown it to from the office has said how cute it is. I was going for rugged, bad a**, etc. But cute?

I bought a MINI Cooper when they first came out (was the 3rd person on the waiting list at the dealer I bought it from). It was that very same way -- couldn't get a moments peace in the car without someone waving, giving a thumbs up, or asking a question about it at a stop light/sign. It stopped about a year later, but I enjoyed it while it lasted!
