Windshields

I've been noticing in some posts that people are reffering to windshield replacement costs being around $1,200.00ish USD dollars. This got me wondering, I as well have a lovely mark left by a rock on mine. So I called the dealer i bought the FJC from and here is what they told me.

Price of a Toyota windshield-$502.00 CDN
Price for install-$120.00 CDN
Windhield molding-$130.00 CDN(didn't have to ask about this, they told me right away I would probably need it)

Total $$$-752.00 CDN=$675.00 USD(todays conv. rate)

How are you guys being charged almost twice as much, and $300.00 USD for the windshield molding when here it converts to about $110.00 USD?

Personaly think you folks are getting bent over the barrel on this.......

That $1,200 figure first surfaced when only a couple of us had our trucks. As more time goes by the price should continue to drop.

Re: Windshields

I tried to have toyota deliver the windshield to a glass place about 10 days ago and the invoice from the dealer said $850.00, which was their cost for the windshield. I was quoted 1200.00 from the dealer and 300 for the top molding. Also the 4 clips to hold the molding are 30 a piece. I was told by the glass guy that new clips are needed for the new windshield. Later the toyota guy called me and said that they weren't needed and the removal of the top molding and clips was very straightforward according to the directions from toyota. This was today. I am going to talk to the glass place tomorrow and I'll post what he said....
