Red face Rear view mirror extension?

Hi folks! Just a quick thought: How difficult would it be to CNC an extension for the rear view mirror to bring it towards the driver by about 6"???

I know it sounds like a weird and trivial issue, but my wife winces and *****es everytime she takes over in the ****pit, and does a one-armed pullup on the steering wheel to adjust the thing, and I don't blame her. She has a really bad back, and it is more a matter of actual pain than it is convenience for her.

I have orangutan arms, so it doesn't matter to me...but it looks like the RVM mounting location could have been averaged better for most people.

If anyone has a CNC and wants to give it a shot, PM me. I'll be happy to pay for one. Thanks!

Bri

Re: Rear view mirror extension?

What about just gluing an angled plastic stick to it so she can use it to adjust. Paint it black and it might not look too bad.

That actually sounds like a great idea. Cheap, quick, wouldn't look too bad and could removed easily enough. You could even screw it to the back of the mirror housing if the plastic doesn't hold.

Now that's not a bad idea at all! Thanks for that one

Of course, "plan C" is to rip it right off the next time she whines about it

Thanks again,

Re: Rear view mirror extension?

I'm gonna play devil's advocate... Wouldn't the longer extension cause more strain on the backing causing it pop off easily?
