Easiest way to haul a couple 2x4's in FJ

I picked up a couple 2x4's and some 8 foot trim molding today and found that if you open the rear door, just slide them between the posts of the rear passenger headrest and then between the posts of the front headrest and push them up to the dash. You can even set a towel/rag/old shirt on top of the dash and slide them up a bit more so the one end actually rests on the dash if you want. They (2x4's) stay perfectly level and they don't slide around at all.........perfect. Just by looking it seems that there is enough room between the headrest posts to fit 2x6's also. I know this may be a stupid post, but for someone who is just getting a few 8 footers of something, this saves the trouble of letting them hang out the back window....or taking the time to fold the seats down and all that BS.

That is when I am glad I put the new baby hitch on my new tt fj so I can use the small trailer I have.

In a pinch this will work. I prefer the rack, since I may have a passenger with me. For large purchases I'll use my trailer.

folding down the seats is too easy... why is it bs. I'd say it's even easier than using a rack and having to secure it with tie downs. I can fit so much stuff in the back with the seats down.

Re: Easiest way to haul a couple 2x4's in FJ

why just last sat i had 25 8' 2x4`s and 1 10' 2x6 with the seats down and the rear window open.
I probably could have fit another 15 2x4 in there
I was doing 60mph on the highway and never felt any breeze from the rear window being open.
