Thumbs up FJ makes the first trip to the race track!

Last Sunday I packed in all the gear for my wife and I to head down to VIR for a motorcycle trackday. I was unsure how everything would fit (or even if it would fit) into the FJ. To my surprise, all the gear which includes a tent, large cooler, 3 tool boxes, very large duffle bag for the race leathers, and 3 stands for the bikes...all went in with a little room to spare.

I installed the tow hitch last week which was an easy 15 minute job and the FJ pulled my wife and I...two motorcycles and all the gear as if nothing was attached.

The trip to VIR goes over a lot of large hills and the FJ did not even begin to work which was in a way expected. Gas mileage was very good...honestly I did not calculate it but I made it down on one tank where my 96 landcruiser typically required a refill before arrival.

Of course when I pulled in a lot of people walked over and I ended up giving a number of tours of the FJ.

What a great vehicle...it really does do everything right! Also, after adding the side mirrors to resolve the blind spot issues, the vehicle has been that much better to drive. For anyone who has not put them on their mirrors, take my word it helps! For $2.99 each...they have been the best mod so far.

Where do you place the mirrors? Up high or down low? Will they blow off if I pressure spray the FJ? Thanks.

My street bike is an 04 R6 and the one here in the picture is my race bike which is an 05 Yamaha R6. My next race isn't until September so I figured why not do a trackday with my wife! She'll start racing soon as well!

Here are a couple of pictures which are -ok- at best

Cool! Nice bike.

Couple buddies race, RS125 and RS250. I've played on the track and did the Superbike school. Not too many things are as fun as knee on the deck and WOT!

Kind of got the Britton colors. Looks nice.
