Re: FJ Forum gone corporate??????

My response above was a bit sarcastic, and I didn't finish it. There is a thread already concerning this issue. I'm sure if you posted in that thread, the Owners would respond to your questions a lot sooner. Just a friendly suggestion!

Who's making money on this forum? No longer seems to be controlled by the users. Recent changes have favored advertising and slowed access (load) times severely. Complaints or suggestions for improvements go unanswered.

Don't get me wrong, I'd be sorry to upset things, as the FJ Forum is an invaluable source of info to me.

Time for the ADMINISTRATORS to level with us.
At what time did anyone imply this site is controlled by the users ? This is a commercial site, with paid advertisers, vendors, and run by a group that owns several forums. At no time, as far as I can tell, did the site ownership relinquish control to the membership here, nor should they be expected to do so...

+1!

It always amazes me that there are people who expect to be paid well by their own employer or business, but for some reason don't want someone else to make any money or expect other people to do stuff for them for free.

x2 - and those same folks are the first to complain when the annual raise or bonus is what was expected. It's alright for them to make money. Everyone else is evil.

This forum is simply outstanding. Keeping it so requires $$$ and I don't mind someone making money off of this enterprise. A great service such as this deserves reaping a reward. The only thing that would change my mind and be a deal breaker, is if I were to find out that the company was owned by somebody like Hugo Chávez.

Re: FJ Forum gone corporate??????

This forum is actually pretty easy going as far as the nonpaying members go. A fair amount of forums won't let you post pictures unless you are a "supporting" member. I have been on some gun forums where administration would shut down a thread because someone was talking about a product that was not represented by a forum vendor (not exactly free speech, but well within the forums right to do). We have it pretty good here.
The forums administration has a difficult balancing act. They have to make everybody happy...the members, the advertisers and their accountant. I doubt that anyone is making huge dollars on this forum. Fact is, if they don't turn a profit...this forum won't be around.
It is like any other community, the more people contribute...the better the community becomes.
