Re: FJ Forum gone corporate??????

it's not that i think it's a bad idea this new paying membership thing it seems ok to me i just don't want to pay to have this site run faster for me. It has become so slow i find myself hitting the refresh all the time because the page just won't load.

Re: FJ Forum gone corporate??????

I paid not to have the site load faster (never noticed a speed problem anyway), but to keep a great site going strong. I've modded my FJC in ways that I enjoy but would never have known about were it not for this forum. I don't mind paying to play.

However, I haven't noticed any changes in the forum since paying. I still have vendor banners above the forum posts. Are ALL vendor ads supposed to be eliminated for paid members? They really don't bother me ...

I really wish elementary economics was taught in our public schools so people would grow up knowing that there are no "free lunches" in the world......WE ALL PAY FOR IT SOMEWAY OR ANOTHER.
That's right bash the public school teachers why don't you.

Such an easy bash for people. I'm not pointing fingers at YOU but I hear this BS on the radio all the time. STEP INTO OUR SHOES!!!! Then JUDGE US. It's so easy for blame to be placed on the "public schools" I place the BLAME squarely and directly ON THE PARENTS. DO YOUR FUGGING JOBS, TEACH DISCIPLINE, RESPONSIBILITY, GOOD MORALS/ETHICS, and RESPECT to YOUR CHILDREN . We've got kids raising kids. Use birth control! Parents should have to take a test before they are allowed to have kids. Stop making your blanket generalized statements on how IT's THE PUBLIC SCHOOLS' FAULT. BS!

Sorry for the Hijack but this chit pisses me off sometimes.

Ditto!

In the past, I have paid for a forum membership or subscription if you will for hidden information by specialists and lesson learned. Then that forum started to lose visitors and such and is now creeping along as there isn't the same amount of members as before. Other forums I have been on started to go the pay route and they died several years later. Not implying that this forum will follow suit but when you put money into the mix, the perception of the forum changes and disgruntled members typically leave because they don't like the direction where it is going. However, there are some notable forums with some success for which I am still reluctant to pay for.

The bottomline is nothing is cheap and you have to pay for your BW and server costs something has to give.

But lesson learned I won't be paying for faster loading times.

I blame elementary public school teachers for most of my problems. At my present age, they are all either dead, in nursing homes or are otherwise unable to respond.

What fault and blame I don't lay at the feet of those teachers, I cast at DRAGON and the forum. Because I spend time here that I should be spending doing something else.

Gone Corporate? (thread topic) Think it through. Do YOU work for free? Not if you're smart.

wait a minute -- the moderators and dragon/admin work for free --

Re: FJ Forum gone corporate??????

it was fast for a long time and then they slow it down with the ads. once we get used to it being fast, we have to pay to get it up to speed... thats a brilliant way to get some $$$$$$. I most likely will buy a year at some point. bandwidth has to be crazy $$$ for this much information.... the ads dont bother me, just the speed, I dont have the ability to update or download browsers at work...

Totally agree!!

However, I think the MikeH's beef is with the system rather than the Teachers themselves. I spend wayyyyy too much time in the 12 High Schools I am responsible for. The teachers are doing the best they can with what they have to work with i.e. students, parents, admin, budget etc.
