Re: FJ Forum gone corporate??????

I don't have as much fun on this forum as I used to for many reasons. The major reason is not the banners or slow load times though, it's the quality of the content. Don't get me wrong, there is still valuable stuff being posted but not nearly as much as there used to be. New threads don't have the quality/excitement/ingenuity of those like Air2Airs Full Frontal, uphill's build, Shadow Warriors build, the solid axel swaps etc. Things have just slowed down.

A year ago it seemed that new products were being announced every month and my wish list of mods would grow by the day, but lately it seems as though the aftermarket for the FJ has slowed down. I guess this is just a function of the FJ's maturity but it has also contributed to the forum being less fun.

I don't mind about the banners and ads but the little pop-ups that appear when your cursor happens to go over a green word drive me nuts. The slow load times are killer too and I don't feel as though I should need to pay in order to make the site work and load properly like every other site I visit in a day, especially when 6 months ago I had no issues.

Lastly, I feel as though that a portion of the membership and admin has become "clique-y". I think it's great that people on this site can connect so well and make real friendships but I don't think the running of the forum should be compromised by it. It may be just me but I have noticed that certain forum members get a long leash when it comes to arguments or flaming whereas others have nearly no leash at all. Some threads are locked without warning where others are allowed to continue without even being asked to cool it down.

Overall I think this is a great place but nothing is perfect and these are a few of the issues for me.

That's right bash the public school teachers why don't you.

Such an easy bash for people. I'm not pointing fingers at YOU but I hear this BS on the radio all the time. STEP INTO OUR SHOES!!!! Then JUDGE US. It's so easy for blame to be placed on the "public schools" I place the BLAME squarely and directly ON THE PARENTS. DO YOUR FUGGING JOBS, TEACH DISCIPLINE, RESPONSIBILITY, GOOD MORALS/ETHICS, and RESPECT to YOUR CHILDREN . We've got kids raising kids. Use birth control! Parents should have to take a test before they are allowed to have kids. Stop making your blanket generalized statements on how IT's THE PUBLIC SCHOOLS' FAULT. BS!

Sorry for the Hijack but this chit pisses me off sometimes.
You really made an impression here. I read the post, that you commented on, without a thought about how it might be interpreted. I might be a bit more sensitive the next time somebody makes a casual comment blaming the "system". And think twice before i do the same. Bravo!

I actually got something useful from this thread....I think you made this thread worth reading ( even though it was a hijack) Thanks.

TY, but I am sorry for venting in this thread (off topic). I was not talking directly to the poster either. So I hope that they don't take what I said as a direct attack against them. Now back to the benefits or not of contributing money to this site...

Anyone else noticed that we now have almost 20k members??

If this forum never passed 10k, they would have never bothered to offer paying memberships. To few people to make a buck off of, and now they have plenty.

BLAME THE NEW MEMBERS.!

Re: FJ Forum gone corporate??????

Bottom line is everyone is getting a lot of great content for free. When I bought my FJ I searched around quite a bit for info on the FJ and this place has the best info I've came across, free or not.

Because this forum is a business, if the site gets bogged down or too many ads drive members away, I'm sure the owners would address it.

So for $25, does this mean I don't have to go get a sandwich every time I load a page.

I'm starting to get fat........er..............fatter..

It's like dial up and my computer has a hand crank.

How many of them are active and using up bandwidth resources though?? I'd say 90% of the posts on the forum come from 10% of the members. Although I have noticed that a lot of the "regulars" are paying, which is good I suppose.

Re: FJ Forum gone corporate??????

I have learned a lot from this forum about my FJ. I've also enjoyed sharing what I know when I can. I plan to contribute towards the forum. I haven't looked at the pricing yet. I don't see it as anyone making money off of me. I know there must be some real ongoing costs for the people involved who've created it. I've met some really nice friends thanks to this forum, and for that reason, I choose to contribute some of my hard earned $$.

Have you lost your mind? What in the hell is wrong with you? I wasn't bashing public schools or teachers. In fact I think teachers are doing a damn good job considering what they have to work with. My son is in 9th grade and I see some of the morons in his classes. Some of those idiots should be in state prison instead of high school. What I was saying is that some consideration should be made either by school administrators, school boards or whoever is in control of school curriculum to include some courses of a practical nature such as economics. Other good fields of study could be investments, IRA's, 401K's. Next time take a breath before you attack someone.
