Re: FJ Forum gone corporate??????

I use firefox with Adblocker and noscript and I haven't noticed any slowdowns.

The forum is the same as it was before the memberships for me.

Re: FJ Forum gone corporate??????

I myself run a couple of forums relating to Disney, Technology, etc.. and I know how expensive it can get. There comes a point that when you get enough members, you need to start something that you can charge so people help you pay your bills. Hosting is cheap, add bandwidth and thats the end of it. When you have a site that gets as many hits like this one, think of all the people not registered, the bots, etc etc... it gets high. I have a site that gets about 75,000 hits daily and thats about 3GB of bandwidth daily, multiply that with 30 days and tell me that isn't a lot of Bandwidth. Now multiply that with multiple sites... Big number ain't it??? Before you waste everyone time next time, think about that, no one on here is a millionaire, hosting and maintaing servers is a biatch and gets $$$$. If you don't want to help support it, thats fine, but don't complain about it. If people only knew what a hassle it is to maintain servers and sites, *sigh*.

Time for a beer anyone??

Re: FJ Forum gone corporate??????

The only problem I have with this forum is that it makes me want to trade my Taco on a FJ.

x2 - It's not slow for me now nor was it before. I use Firefox or Safari and get the same results.

Yuppers, this is what I run at home and on my laptop and the site loads very fast. NOSCRIPT is a great companion to Firefox.

Do what I did. Keep your Taco and get an FJ for the weekends! I've got an 05' Access cab SR5. I bought it about a year and a half before i got the FJ. I only have 5 more payments left on the Taco and it's mine. I still owe about $11K on the FJ.

Re: FJ Forum gone corporate??????

I actually just calculated the actual cost of the lifetime membership. 24 years which equals 8748 days. The actual cost per day for the lifetime membership is .0074302 cents. Now stop all the bullcrap and whining and get yourself the pretty little badge that states you're willing to help out a little to defer some of the cost of running the forum. OK i'm done now.

Whatever, moneybags - I'm not sure if the advice and info I've gotten is worth quite that much.
