Who's making money on this forum? No longer seems to be controlled by the users. Recent changes have favored advertising and slowed access (load) times severely. Complaints or suggestions for improvements go unanswered.

Don't get me wrong, I'd be sorry to upset things, as the FJ Forum is an invaluable source of info to me.

Time for the ADMINISTRATORS to level with us.
After first starting this thread, I've been belittled (not personally named, THANK YOU) for:

1) Not paying the premium ($65 ?) for the upgrades
2) Questioning the responsiveness of the ADMINISTRATORS OR CORPORATION
3) Being naive about making a buck in corporate America
4) and numerous other sheep-like responses not willing to question the system.

So suddenly, without a response from the ADMINISTRATORS (MY FIRST GRIPE), THE RESPONSE AND DOWNLOAD TIMES IMPROVE DRAMATICALLY.

squeak the wheel once in a while

Re: FJ Forum gone corporate??????

My hat is off to all the people who provided me the opportunity to use this forum.
For well over a year the info and insight received as a forum member was the main reason for my decision to purchase an FJ.
I feel that the optional membership fee will help to support the forum and show support to our FJ community. Knowledge and the organization of it is priceless.
Thanks for all the love jorge

Re: FJ Forum gone corporate??????

If the AUTOFORUMS sold this site today, its value would not be in the valuable information, the adds, or the sponsors. ITS VALUE WOULD BE IN THE NUMBER OF MEMBERS. Think about that.

Somebody is missing the point, this is a good forum, I have spent alot time on Thumpers, 450x, Honda, etc etc.
All are the same, they need ad $ to exist. That said, it is still a great place for individuals to ask questions, share experiences, and get good solid advice from experiece members. Nothing is free. Enjoy and get over it.

Agreed, but with no viewers/members, the site is worthless to sponsors and advertiser.....and the "valuable information" comes from us, not the corporate site.

The paid portion of this offers nothing for me. That is why I have not paid my $25.00. Sticker, who cares, 500 PMs, I'm lucky if I get one a month. No adds, now that is a plus. Other stuff, I don't care about. I believe, and this is just me, that to have the little member avatar below your own avatar is just something to have for the bragging rites. It is just not for me. I would rather spend my $25 on something that is usefull to me. That is all.
I guess none of the mods, advice, suggestions, experience, questions answered on this forum are worth the $25 to help support a great website we all benefit from.

In my opinion, the first question I ever had answered paid for my lifetime membership, in spades.

Mr McFarlane, check your browser settings. The site works as fast as it ever has. Clear your cache, delete your cookies and restart your system. If you don't like the site, why participate? Most of us really do like the site. A lot. We even like the mods. They keep it civil in here. Fact of life.

The guy across the street owns Thumpertalk. Is that the forum you're referring to? All this discussion is interesting and reveals what people consider to be of value. I think I'll ask him how he runs things over there.

It's all moot, though, when you consider the fact that it's optional to pay the fee. So....I guess I'm still wondering why everyone's so up in arms about it.

Isn't is just easier to say, "Nah, thanks, I'll still come here but I don't really want to pay."?

Isn't it? Really?
