The guy across the street owns Thumpertalk. Is that the forum you're referring to? All this discussion is interesting and reveals what people consider to be of value. I think I'll ask him how he runs things over there.

It's all moot, though, when you consider the fact that it's optional to pay the fee. So....I guess I'm still wondering why everyone's so up in arms about it.

Isn't is just easier to say, "Nah, thanks, I'll still come here but I don't really want to pay."?

Isn't it? Really?

Hmmm...maybe Bush should find more female ambassadors
You have expressed your viewpoint. It's clear.

You came to the conclusion that we're all just sheep/lemmings with no opinions of our own. We are just going with the flow.

How am I doing so far?

Look, I get that you don't like the fee. Refrain from paying it. It's just that simple. But that dead horse you're beating in the town square is in shreds now.

M

Oh, and for the record, I'd make a better ambassador than assassin.

Re: FJ Forum gone corporate??????

And this has WHAT to President Bush????

I agree....get FireFox and the plugin Ad Blocker Plus, and the site screams along just fine. If you don't wanna pay, don't. Ya know, I don't walk into a store and gripe to the cashier about not wanting to pay to get a magazine. If I don't wanna pay for a magazine, I borrow my neighbor's magazine. Sheesh....I know, not really the same thing, but just as ridiculous.

I find the site fun. I find a LOT of the folks here very nice, and very knowledgeable. Therefore I choose to stick around, and the membership is a side benefit. Especially in my case....right Dragon?

'Nuf said. Let's talk FJ and quit the whining already!!

I stand at the magazine rack at 7-11 and read them all until I am asked to leave. My co-workers dad is the chief editor of all the gun magazines there are.

Re: FJ Forum gone corporate??????

Photobucket was free. It had more hits than this place EVER thought about. It was sold twice as it grew and became more popular....and it instituted fees for expanded service. Nothing wrong with any of that....but to hint that the owners of this site weren't turning a profit and that this new membership status is anything more than extra "gravy" (again, nothing wrong with gravy)....is malarkey (sp?).

Just a point to ponder.

Hey Sean, I like your posts and all the great information I get from this site from users exactly like you. Nothing is free. EXCEPT: You can browse this site for free. Nobody has to pay. You may indeed be right. There may be a profit being made. Okay. But it's still worth it to me to support the site in terms of a nominal fee, and continue to reap the benefits of the vast amount of experience shared on this site.

Cheers brother. Hope to get to wheel with you some day.

And just to be clear....I don't have a problem with them making a profit in the slightest....but don't try and sell it to everyone that it costs so much to run the site and make it seem as if they might be having a hard time breaking even. They aren't.

Until they become a publicly held corporation on the Dow Jones, though, is it really our business to know HOW much of a profit they're turning? The amount of Advil they go through has to be a large G/L expense.
I'm just sayin'.

Re: FJ Forum gone corporate??????

Ya know, I think they were a corporation, acting all corporation-y, before the latest change. Just thought I'd get that out there (every time I see the thread title I think that).

Never said we had a right to know how much they are making.....just don't try and sell me that they need the membership package for the revenue, when they don't.
