Toyota planning to increase FJ prices

Bloomberg.com: Japan

Quote:
Toyota plans to raise prices for models including the FJ Cruiser sport-utility vehicle, Yaris compact and Prius hybrid by as much as 2.1 percent in North America later this month to help offset rising materials costs.

Nippon Steel Corp. and JFE Holdings Inc., Japan's two biggest steelmakers, raised wholesale sheet steel prices 25 percent last month to cover an unexpected tripling in annual coking coal prices. They are seeking a further 10 percent increase as early as June, traders familiar with price talks said on April 22.

Re: Toyota planning to increase FJ prices

they'll just end up giving larger incentives to counter the price increase.

Re: Toyota planning to increase FJ prices

I venture to say that many people pay more for their cars and trucks than they have to anyway. People who do their homework, look around, and are willing to "work the deal" will still be able to get a lower price.

I'm more concerned about the prediction that U.S. gas prices could hit as high as $10 per gallon in the months ahead... Still, this information is just a sign of the times...

Re: Toyota planning to increase FJ prices

A price increase on a low MPG vehicle will definitely boost sales....not.

Re: Toyota planning to increase FJ prices

GT, I can only speak for my area, but I haven't seen any manufacturer to customer incentives in the Denver Region on FJ Cruisers. Also, Toyota.com shows none for my area, no cash back, no special financing and no special lease rates like Toyota has on many of its other models.

It probably has more to do with the weaker dollar.

Re: Toyota planning to increase FJ prices

I live in CT. I'm surprised we haven't got hit with an FJ tax yet. This state taxes the living crap out of you and then comes back for more. As far as FJ prices, they are high around here anyway and the dealers don't like to deal. Toyota rarely has incentives for buyers here. Usually lease deals if you plan on only driving 12K miles a year. When I bought mine in August 06 I printed out the biuld from the Toyota site and brought it with me. That, 12K in cash, and I had just bought a Taco from them the year before so they cut me some slack.
