If you are running 285/70/17 on your rig read this post!

so how do all of you other owners feel about only a fingers width between the uca and the tire. i went and checked mine last night and when i noticed this , it kind of made me rethink not having spacers on my wheels. opinions input??

It's very common to see this in tires that size with stock tires. Did you try to crank the steering over and see if they still clear? It'll come even closer if not hit.

Try cranking them over on pavement and see. You can even do it in your garage. If they clear I wouldn't be too concerned, but if they rub or come very close even just on pavement, I'd consider either spacers or aftermarket UCA.

I have no problems with mine, nor am I worried, and have been offroading many times.

Beside, spacers present you with a whole set of other problems (such as loss of a wheel on the freeway...)

I've had 285/70 17 BFG A/T's on my rig for a long while now, still have never gotten any rub on the UCA or body mount.

When you air down your tires they bulge more at the bottom where there is pressure, not so much at the top where the UCA is.

Mine were about as close as DominicG's are and they never rubbed on the trails.

i do not seem to have any body mount issue, just went out and stuck my finger in between the uca and the tire and it sure seems close imo. if you were to shock the tire good enough it seems like it would be real close. so I am now considering some wheel spacers to get it further away, and by reading a few other posts this made me wonder if i space the wheel away from the uca that it might cause my tire to come closer to the body mount. input?
