I really encourage you to branch out and learn about other edibles. There are a large number of common edibles that have NO look alikes at all. The variety of textures and flavors rival those of fruit and vegetables. Have fun out there!
Unfortunately the only edible we have in the Desert Southwest is Peyote... Don't get me wrong. There are a lot of people that would love to know where to find it so that they can harvest it. But most of the stuff out here is poisonous.

Unless you go to the local Whole Foods and buy organic mushrooms.

Re: Shrooms + FJ = Big FUN!

Hey Uphill,
I'm sure you know that peyote isn't a mushroom, lol! You would be surprised to know that there are edible shrooms that pop up after the rains in the SW. Obviously far fewer than in the NW, but they are there nonetheless!

Re: Shrooms + FJ = Big FUN!

i think that thing should be coined the fungi/fungus finder
i'm really curious to how those mushrooms aren't completely destroyed after they've been bouncing around in the back of the fungi finder :P

Re: Shrooms + FJ = Big FUN!

You know what's funny? As I was reading this thread and catching up on fungal findings, one of my guys gets me on the radio and tells me he just arrested a guy for possession (for sale) of Magic Mushrooms. That was freaky!

Re: Shrooms + FJ = Big FUN!

As I recall back in the day it sure took a long time to go between stop lights when you were looking (or maybe found mushrooms).

Does look fun, and I must say I had a panful of morels this past weekend. Yum Yum

Re: Shrooms + FJ = Big FUN!

It is awesome to see that there are other fungal fanatics on the forum! The Fungus Finder..... I love it! That is my rig's name. Introducing The Fungus Finder! LOL. I'm gonna have a custom decal made for that strip next to the top break light. Thanks man!
