Water puddles

Quick question:

When you guys with stock tires hit a standing water puddle on the road, does the water go out to the sides or does it tend to fly up and hit the windshield.

This may be a strange question but I have had several vehicles do very different things with standing water.

Land Rover Discovery would always push it out to the sides regardless of depth. Ford F150 always splashes up and onto the windshield.

TIA
Julius

Re: Water puddles

Hit a huge puddle the other night coming off the highway and the water completly covered the windshield.

Re: Water puddles

It does both, can't see through windshield and also send a ton of water out to the sides

Re: Water puddles

well look at the front of the wheel wells. It's pretty open with only the silver part of the bumper covering it. So when you hit water, it goes forward, then gets pushed back by the wind (and onto your windshield). Makes for a LOT of fun in the mud!!

We've been getting a TON of rain and I hit a 6 inch puddle of water at about 55 to 60mph and it covered the winshield but the FJ was rock solid.

I'll take stability any day...one wipe and I was able to see no problem!

Thanks. I think that sums it up. If you have a decent approach angle you have to sacrifice the splash because there isn't anything up front to stop it.

Any excuse to see the three wipers in action
