VIP Alarm People - How's Your Radar?

Just wondering how yours works. Mine seems to need lower-level engagement. For example if I reach my hand into the truck over the driver's seat, the alarm does not go off. But......if I reach lower....I can set it off. Is this how it should be or should it cover most of the area of the truck?

Hmmm... I waved my hand in there when I first installed it and it went off... Don't remember where my hand was exactly. I'll check in a few...

Re: VIP Alarm People - How's Your Radar?

Thanks Bill. Ya know I had a friend of mine helping me with the radar piece while I was running the harness over to the right side. I think he may have left off the two washers that go behind the bottom of the bracket. Maybe this positions the radar down just a bit (though I can't imagine that much movement just from the two very small washers). Let me know how yours works when you can

a.k.a. "Bill isn't doing what he said"...

Sorry! Just went out and tried it. If I waved my hand front to back level with the top of the seats (not the headrest), it would trigger after a few seconds... Probably aimed down by design, as the center console is where most of your goodies will be...

thanks Bill!! Maybe I'll have to rip out the center console again and put those 2 washers in. It's easy enough, I suppose....

Bostonian, not trying to pry but how much do you make an hour at your current job? How many hours have you spent working on, and how much longer will you have to work on, this alarm? How much would it have cost you to get it installed right the first time?

Something to think about dude.

It wasn't an instant trigger. I had to wait at that level for about five seconds for the horn to go...
