I'm seriously thinking of getting a small daily driver, maybe a vw diesel. Used to have one, gets mid 40's on the highway. Not just to save gas but wear on my Fj. I've had it 4 months and I'm at 9,000 miles. At this rate it'll have 100,000 in 4 years! I plan on keeping this baby a LONG time, so saving it for fun only sounds good.

james, with diesel at 450 a gallon and the horrid smell, you could not give me one. my neighbor told me in florida the dealers will not let you even trade in a diesel vehicle no one wants one.. good luck with the girlies.. they look at mine also then they see me and say nice rig Sir.. lol!.. no respect..
Mike, have you been in a late 90's or early 2000 vw diesel? Very quite, no smell, no smoke, and 40 mpg makes up for the 30-40 cents extra a gallon. Not sure what I'll find, though, but I'm going to start looking. Like I said, I hate racking up so many miles on a vehicle I might keep a decade or two. You going to tellico on the 31st?

I'm sorry, but I got a kick out of the original poster suggesting that Ron Paul could solve the oil crisis. Ron Paul isn't the solution. That guy is a complete joke. A problem solver like Mitt Romney would be more capable of helping out the everyday American.
Let the private sector adapt to the changes in consumer demand. The government should stay the hell out of this. They already tax gas enough as it is. Punishing oil companies would do more harm than good.
I'm keeping my brand new FJ for a long time. The hippies on the coastlines can kiss my a$$.

The real kicker is that in Iraq and everywhere in the Middle East gas is like 49 cents a gallon do you all know why because we are picking up the rest of thier tab and paying these outragous prices all well got to pay to play.
when they elect me, i'll change all that

I've only had my TT FJ less than a month. If I tried to sell it, I'd probably lose 10-15k. For that, I could just buy a Smartcar and enjoy the best of both worlds.
The more gas goes up, the more likely the chance that the FJ is discontinued, in my opinion.
take THAT to the bank.
i've been saying that for a year now. The FJ is history.
