Maybe if more people spoke up on drilling for oil here?

I'll speak up for it, since how that's how I make my living - but most people here don't appreciate it in my experience.

By making imported oil so expensive it would not be an option. Use our own supply. I'm quickly becoming an isolationist. Earthquake, Cyclone, f 'em. We have been paying for all of these various world disasters for 100 years...and they still hate us. Do you think the Vatican helps the mainly Catholic countries when a hurricane or earthquake hits? Hell to the no! And when have these zillionaire islamic oil barrons EVER helped any country in need? Never! So why is it up to the American taxpayers to pay for all of this foreign aid when we get nothing in return? This policy has bankrupted the USA....let's help rebuild this country and then if we have anything left over, we can share. It's just the opposite now. We help everyone else while our infrastructure ie, roads, bridges, dams, you name it falls apart with no funds for repair. And what does this have to do with the FJ? Nuttin, I'm just friday venting.
x 10!! I'm with ya on this all the way! The whole world thinks we are fools and I am beginning to think they are right. It's time to requisition ALL Iraqi oil. Afghanistan's too!

We have enough oil reserves in this country to last 500 years I've read.
Absolutely false for crude oil. We do have a lot of natural gas, oil shale, and Canada has a lot of tar sand - but oil shale and tar sands are very very expensive to extract crude oil from. The military is already liquifying coal to make jet fuel on a trial basis, in case of (expanded) war in the Middle East, also very expensive. We will be using those sources before it's all over, but it's going to be really expensive by the time we get there.

Re: Five Dollar Per Gallon Gas

I prefer not to think too much of this right now. I will continue to pay for it and will find other ways to cut back so I can fuel up. I just rather not have to think about it until I have to.

Re: Five Dollar Per Gallon Gas

By the time it is $5, I think this is going to be the best essay topic for all of the College, University, Bar exam, SAT...etc

Seriously, don't be too upset. That's more car or truck waste more gas then we do. Plus, I don't think everybody driving a Hybrid on the street is the way to go. I'll say, let off gas when you see the road is gonna be down slope, or the up coming traffic light is turning red, go easy on the green light, plan your trip ahead and don't make non-nessessary trip.

I'll say stop the war, put more focus and money to our own country and school. better economy means less crime and people can get better chance for better job. If we all got better pay, who care about how much per gallons gonna be.

Wish we all got better pay by the end of this year. to all FJ lovers and owners~!

Re: Five Dollar Per Gallon Gas

About all Id do is goto a lighter wheel and tire set up. I think , nitto mudders and steel rims are dang near 100 LBS a piece. But if price keeps going up my next car will alt fuel.

PS I wonder how many democrats will say screw the Alaska wilderness when gas goes over $5.

Re: Five Dollar Per Gallon Gas

I think thats the purpose for the high price gas now days.
Give us no choice but dig out the oil from Alaska. Think about it, who got the most benefit for that?...... the answer is those who own the oil company.
