Re: Air's New Winch

I commented on one of Air's pics, the one with the ATV that it looks like they are saying to each other...... "This field isn't big enough for the both of us!!"

Now the highway isn't big enough for anyone but air!!!!!!!!!

Re: Air's New Winch

soo... who's going to do the calculation on how many feet of cable there is on that winch?

Is it longer than the Brooklyn bridge?... the Golden Gate?

Could you pull a FJ up the empire state building with it?

Assuming 100 feet of 3/8" (actual size) cable. A relative measurement (100 feet divided by 1/18) equals 1800 feet of scale length. The Golden Gate Bridge has a suspension length of 6450 feet and the main span is 4200 feet. The Brooklyn Bridge has a main span of 1562 feet - 6 inches. The Empire State Building is 1250 feet to the top of the television antenna.

So no to the Golden Gate Bridge, but yes to the other two.

Re: Air's New Winch

Good winch, I have the slightly bigger weight capacity Warn XD9000, and will be putting it on my future FJ when it arrives after I figure out what bumper to go with.
The Demello one is looking very good.

Loose the steel cable and go with synthetic line.
I took my steel line off and sold it the first day I advertised it.

Synthetic line is so mich more safe, lighter, and easier to use.
Mine was from http://www.masterpull.com/
There are many makers of this now though.
