Accessing holes Along Top of Drivers Side Under Hood

Is there a way to access the back side of the existing holes in the aft drivers side under the hood? I would like to put a bolt through an existing hole and be able to tighten it. It looks like you can remove the plastic trim cover along the side of the hood but not sure how to remove the clips.

Another way to ask this is how do you remove the plastic trim on either side of the hood access? When you do remove it can you access the holes on the sides?

I'm still in the dark as to where exactly you mean. Can you post a pic of the area, so everyone knows exactly the spot you're talking about?

Re: Accessing holes Along Top of Drivers Side Under Hood

I will when I get back from travel. Essentially this is the area right below the hood lift piston along the edge. Some people mount relays, etc along this edge. It is also the crumple zone where some people are experiencing cracks/bulging. There are a few existing holes there and if you can get behind them you can put a bolt througn without having to drill holes.

Re: Accessing holes Along Top of Drivers Side Under Hood

I think he is referring to this plastic which is the fender top cover.

It's easy to remove. Just 5 push out clips and 1 push in and pull out (near the hood shock). The plastic cover is also being held by ~ 3 white plastic clips on the other side. I removed this plastic when I run my 4 roof lights and I mounted the relays/fuse block (red) along this side of the engine bay. Let me browse my files of pictures if have some for the other side of the plastic.

More pictures:

The six clips removed:

Slowly, pull up the plastic cover starting from the front.

The three additional clips that holds the right side of the plastic cover.

That is exactly what I was looking for. Where did you get the FJ plaque on top of the fuse box?

Re: Accessing holes Along Top of Drivers Side Under Hood

How do you remove the five push out clips? Are the three white clips pretty tough and break resistant? Any trick to releasing the white clips? Thanks for the great help and pictures!
