Adios!

Well, I just traded in my 2nd FJ Cruiser -- a 2007 VooDoo Blue MT6 for a 2017 Chevy Bolt -- the new EV -- which replaces the FJ as my daily driver.

Unlike the 1st FJ -- a 2007 Titanium Metallic AT -- that I put almost $10k into and took off-road regularly, I hardly did anything to the 2nd one and never took it off road (not even in the snow after I gave up skiing at few years ago). Just liked the way the FJ looked and was happy to keep it around as my daily driver. Only put a few extra dollars into it for a few things that were missing or worn out when I got it 3 years ago. The last thing I had to buy for it was a new battery after the OEM battery died a few months ago.

The car had the developed the dreaded MT throw out bearing squeak over a year ago. Never fixed it because it wasn't giving me any problems and it wasn't clear from the threads on the topic that doing so would actually get rid of the noise; some who do the fix get the noise back anyway. The only thing I didn't like about the 2nd FJ was how poor the gas mileage was compared w/the 1st. Never got more than 12-13 mpg w/the MT but typically 16-18 w/the AT.

That was one of the reasons I decided to trade the FJ in for the Bolt, which is an EV with a 200+ mile range. No need to stop at a gas station or even top off for charge on the road. Just drive it and recharge it overnight at home. Of course, I still have my other cars to us for other purposes. In a pinch I can try to use my F250 4x4 to go "off road" but it's really TOO BIG and only good for wide and smooth forest roads. No Rubicon Trail again for me it that. LOL!

Joined this forum back in May 2007 when I bought my 1st FJ and I may stop back in again to try to sell a few FJ and off-road accessories that I still have lying around BUT sadly it's time to say:

Adios! Vaya con Dios! Good luck and best wishes to you all!

Who wants to take bets on how long before he's back?!

Seriously though, good luck and good fortune with the new Chevy!

Re: Adios!

I considered getting in line for a Tesla 3, but to do so I'd have sell the FJ, so it won't happen for me, I love the FJ too much. Gas is still cheap, relatively.
