There is no way a doe is going to do anything to any of the high end aftermarket bumpers. ARB, FabFours, RoadArmor......the list continues. Yes it is good that she didn't go over the hood, but that is what the brush guard is for. Also, Your hubby did the right thing. Never slow, brake, or swerve for a deer, unless you are intentionally swerving into it to protect a motorcycle rider from impact with a dear. This is often fatal for the dear and rider. If you are sure you can't safely avoid impact with a deer (not elk or moose) aim dead center and blast it. Much safer than swerving around at 60mph to save a dear. Hell, you may even get some nice, fresh venison out of the deal. Some states allow you to keep roadkill if you report the accident and ask to keep it.
Thats why ARB's are built the way they are. They were originally designed to protect vehicles from collisions with Kangaroo's. Thus ARB ( Australian Roo Bar).
Seriously I saw a picture of a Ford 3/4t with an ARB on it after it smoked a moose and there was no front damage to the vehicle or bumper at all. The moose did total off the drivers side rear box panel as it spun around after being hit by the ARB. But it did its job and protected the front of the vehicle and passengers in the cab.

Very true, they were designed in Australia to protect from the many Kangaroo's.
History
"Upon returning to Melbourne, Tony put theory into practice via the family garage, where he sought to address the product deficiencies he’d encountered. His vision called for a combination of sound design principles and reliable raw materials… a simple solution to an endemic problem. The concept was embraced when it hit the fledgling 4x4 market, and ARB – the initials of Anthony Ronald Brown – was founded."

Another affirmation for my own purchase of an ARB. I, too, have hit a deer with mine while traveling I-10 here in Florida. Not a scratch, just had to spray it off...(ew). Bambi got wedged in the center section and had to be pulled out by the legs...(EEwww)
Dang bullbar is a TANK! Money well spent.
