Re: People with Lifts chime in!

I am in LA area too. Parking garage...baaaaaaaaaaah. There are only a few that I know of that I can safetly fit into. Those that I question, I make on pass and if it is not over 7'0 tall then I don't bother. I find someplace else to park. Thats the price I pay I guess. No big deal for me.

I fit nice and snug into my garage w/ a 3" lift and 33s but don't use it.

Re: People with Lifts chime in!

Running 3" with 285s and an added basket. I need 7' clear for my rig. I might be able to fit in something a little less but I would never risk it. Knowing my luck I would find the one spot in the garage less than 7' and would peel my roof rack off.....

Re: People with Lifts chime in!

In Corpus Christi I haven't found a parking garage I couldn't get in. You have to remember, a lot of the big buildings here have oil company offices with people driving 1 ton 4x4 trucks. Many of the parking garages have a good foot to spare above my rig.

The mental imagery on that one is sickening.

Re: People with Lifts chime in!

I just thought about my one SoCal parking garage experience with the FJ. I had to park in the bus parking behind the Paradise Pier hotel at Disneyland last month because I couldn't fit in the garage and the "oversized vehicle parking" was filled with a mustang, a ford ranger, and a few longer (but not tall) vehicles all week.

I even had to prove to a couple of the "security" guards that I wouldn't fit by pulling up to the bar and watching it barely touch the front of my snorkel. Forget the roofrack or antennas! If I hadn't shown them that, they were going to tow me.

I guess that is my only story of parking garage inconvenience.

Re: People with Lifts chime in!

I have a 3" Icon/OME lift, 34" tires, and a stock roof rack. Had to adjust my garage door opener up as far as it will go, and it barely fits.

I once pulled the stock rack apart when my Hi-lift jack was on the roof rack, in an office building parking garage where the exit was lower than the entrance.

Re: People with Lifts chime in!

Yes, but i don't have a roof rack for that matter, all you hear from the factory rack is that its pretty much useless and robs a 1 to 2 mpg on highways. My setup is 6" RC, 35" tires, no rack and it measures about 6'8".

Re: People with Lifts chime in!

My 3" suspension lift has improved handling of the rig on and off road. Not to mention all the bennies for the trails. I haven't seen the inside of a parking garage in years... and parking in downtown Seattle in the rain... ALL WORTH IT. of course not fitting in parking garage could have something to do with the 8" Baja Design roof lights :-)
