Re: Attention: State Farm Insured Owners - Off Road Use

Well if something happens off road drag it to the side of a paved road and say a dog jumped out in front of you and you swerved to miss it.

The agent probably saw some of the pictures you've posted here

But other than this, I've never had any problems with SF. Sucks but I want to make sure I'm covered. I even offered to pay more to have coverage but no go.
I know you're just joking.....but here's the funny part.....I only had liability on it. They dropped me from LIABILITY ONLY coverage!

It came up in passing that I was taking it 4wheeling.....and no, I didn't post any pics of what kind of trails I was doing. Long story....but that's the short version.

I have state farm and am pretty pissed... I got my 6 month statement for JUST my FJ and my bill is $630... I just got a quote with geico with the same coverage and they quoted me at less than $450/six months.

Does anyone know about geico?
State Farm is charging me $900 a year for full coverage on my FJ.

Re: Attention: State Farm Insured Owners - Off Road Use

It's a state by state issue, just as it is with medical insurance.....different states, different coverages. Just because you might be covered in one state for certain activities by a certain insurance company doesn't mean you will be in another state. In the case of State Farm, in the state of Texas I'm covered for the aforementioned off-road excursions, but someone in another state with State Farm coverage might not be. Plus, they have to notify you of any change in coverage, so pay attention to notifications of coverage changes so you don't get caught without coverage at some future date.

Re: Attention: State Farm Insured Owners - Off Road Use

I called my insurance (nationwide) and asked and was told that i was covered as long as it was not competition/racing.

I gave them an example of me just driving on a dirt road and me rolling it what would happen.

Its just interesting to me what is considered off-road, a dirt road a gavel road? There are plenty of people who live off of paved roads. So if you get in an accident off of a paved road no coverage.

I pay $666, creepy I know, per year for my FJ. $250, $500 deductible, 1 million liability.

I'm covered off road and even on frozen lakes. But I made them send me a copy of where it reads that in the full policy after reading another thread on this here.

I'm 31, not married, perfect driving record, no claims against me ever, homeowner and less than 7500 miles per year, garaged vehicle.

I was paying much lower like you when I lived in Illinois. When I moved to Massachusetts my rates went way up. It's really totally about the state you live in. I have a spotless driving record, no accidents, nothing. Garage kept, I live in a rural area, married, etc.

If I were you, though, I would change companies or ask them to charge you $667.00.

What company do you have?

As for the guy that said it varys state to state, I know most do, thats why I asked and was told this was a change nationwide, not only in TN.
