Jon, you're a gentleman and while our FJ's are cool and I don't plan to sell mine anytime soon, there is no comparison between the rigs and the family. The rig goes if any decision needs to be made. You're head is on straight as usual.
As a matter of fact, I'm starting on a project this year on another non-Toyota rig (I've been plotting with MIR207 and Shadow-Warrior) and am hoping I don't start to take heat. I don't think I will but priorities have to be people over things in all cases.
Good decision!

That was one of the most honest and heartfelt stories I have ever had the pleasure to read. I can't say I understand nor do I know how you must be feeling about your need to let your FJ go, but what I do know for certain is that if more men in the world were even remotely like you, IMHO, the divorce rate would drop to zero!
You did what was right and unselfish for you and your family and willing to make sacrifices for those you love is what it is all about in the end.
Who knows.............someday you may have the opportunity to get another FJ. Time has a way of working everything out, no matter what.
Best of luck to you and your family,
Paul

As has been previously said, you are a true gentleman, genius and proud family man!
Our toys can be replaced. Family must always come first. Wives do tend to put their wishes second, but subtle and often not so subtle, show their unhappiness... You are a man of wisdom to recognize it before it became a problem.
You'll always be a part of our family and we hope you will continue to share your knowledge and experiences with us!
cheers,

Jon - very wise words indeed. It is important to remember where one's priorities lies, and the FJ, even though it is the best vehicle I have ever owned - it is, and always will be, just a vehicle. I can never allow the FJ, or any vehicle, to 'replace', or take away from, what is the most important thing in my life, and that is my wife. I would do anything for her - including getting rid of the FJ if need be.

Jon, I know exactly what you are going through since having just gone through it myself with Anita. I too put my self in front of my loves ones and their needs, and only did what I wanted too. I think your not only a great member, but again you show how truly smart you are. I’m glad you were able to see what was going on and make the necessary changes to bring the family back together again; my hat goes off to you my friend. I know myself, my marriage has never been stronger since my ordeal. It was a good wakeup call for me. Take care my friend
Mike

We've never met but most of us here feel like we know you through your posts and insights. I know I've certainly enjoyed your company here.
You're getting it. Its the journey, not the destination.
Acquired wisdom means to have the ability to learn on the fly and the flexibility to adjust the plan along the way. Generally this is learned by experience. But you already know this, even if you don't think you do. You're doing it right.
Don't be a stranger. Keep us up to date with your major project and anything else that is going on in your life.
Take good care.
